AP: Bush Knew About Levee Dangers

A Direct Contradiction

"I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees. They did anticipate a serious storm. But these levees got breached. And as a result, much of New Orleans is flooded. And now we are having to deal with it and will." --President Bush

Governor Dean's Reaction

"The American people know the President disregarded vital warnings, and later misled them about it. The AP released tapes of President Bush being briefed on the dangers and impact of Hurricane Katrina the day before the storm hit. The tapes directly contradict Bush's now infamous claim after Katrina, "I don't think anybody anticipated the breech of the levees."

Even though the Republicans have consistently stonewalled Democrat's efforts at a thorough investigation of Hurricane Katrina, and find out what they knew and when they knew it, the facts are getting out. It is vital that everyone read the AP story and see the tapes for themselves. This story is too important to be spun by talking heads and right wing pundits - now you can see it firsthand.

Linked by secure video, Bush expressed a confidence on Aug. 28 that starkly contrasted with the dire warnings his disaster chief and numerous federal, state and local officials provided during the four days before the storm. Continue Reading...
