Group Profile
The Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee (BTDC) is the major Democratic political organization in Brookhaven with hundreds of "committee people" who represent 294 Election Districts (ED's). We are the true energetic grassroots activists of the Democratic party. The BTDC is committed to honest, accountable open government. We are dedicated to electing qualified town, county, state, and national Democratic candidates who work to improve the quality of life for the benefit of ALL residents, regardless of party affiliation. The chair of the Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee is Marsha Z. Laufer, who in the last four years has done a tremendous job reenergizing the Democratic party in Brookhaven. She was instrumental in Tim Bishop's victories in '02 and '04, Steve Levy's victory in '03, and most recently, helping to elect a Democratic majority to the Brookhaven Town Board in '05. The executive director of the Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee is Anna Deknatel. She first joined us during Brooke Ellison's campaign during the fall and is thrilled to be in Brookhaven for the Town races next fall. Anna, originally a Boston native and recent Harvard graduate, has a background in education and youth voting.
