INSISTING THAT THE "FUNDAMENTALS OF OUR ECONOMY ARE STRONG"
Like Bush, McCain still thinks the economic fundamentals are strong, despite seven months of job losses, the housing crisis and spiraling energy costs.
BUSH:
Bush: "The Fundamentals Are Strong." While speaking about economic troubles in Kansas City, President Bush said, "The fundamentals are strong. We're just in a rough patch."1
MCCAIN:
McCain Said "The Fundamentals Of Our Economy Are Strong." McCain said, "I think it matters a great deal, I don't think that they will. I still believe that the fundamentals of our economy are strong. We've got terribly big challenges now whether it be housing or employment or so many of the other, healthcare, it's very, very tough times."2
