"This is my hope. This is my prayer."

"The particular faith that motivates each of us can promote a greater good for all of us," President Obama said this morning to a crowd of several thousand people gathered for the National Prayer Breakfast at the Washington Hilton in the nation's capital. "Instead of driving us apart, our varied beliefs can bring us together to feed the hungry and comfort the afflicted; to make peace where there is strife and rebuild what has broken; to lift up those who have fallen on hard times."
A dozen foreign leaders attended, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who delivered the keynote address.
Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) read from Scripture, Rep. Ike Skelton (D-MO) delivered a prayer for national leaders, Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) delivered a prayer for world leaders, and Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) delivered the closing prayer. Casting Crowns, a Christian rock group, performed at the event.
The National Prayer Breakfast, currently co-chaired by Reps. Vern Ehlers (R-MI) and Heath Shuler (D-NC), is a yearly event held in Washington, D.C., on the first Thursday of February each year. The event has taken place since 1953 and every U.S. president since Dwight D. Eisenhower has participated in the breakfast.
The President is set to sign an executive order regarding the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, which we'll have more on later today.
Read the President's remarks below.
The occasion was the Democratic Party primaries which were becoming increasingly murderous. Now, after the celebration of our history and the struggle for justice that became an Inauguration this past week I thought it worthwhile to look at it again. . . .

It has also been encouraging how many people have stepped up over the last 2 weeks to help with donations to the campaign. Once our opponent got desperate and decided to go negative there were many people and organizations who stepped up and sent in late donations. These late donations allowed us to expand our media advertising and create a second TV ad to combat the distortions coming from our opponent's campaign. Read More »

"Even more remarkable, Obama has made race â€" that perennial, gaping American wound â€" an afterthought. He has done this by introducing a quality to American politics that we haven't seen in quite some time: maturity. He is undoubtedly as ego-driven as everyone else seeking the highest office â€" perhaps more so, given his race, his name and his lack of experience. But he has not been childishly egomaniacal, in contrast to our recent baby-boomer Presidents â€" or petulant, in contrast to his opponent. He does not seem needy. He seems a grown-up, in a nation that badly needs some adult supervision."
A stunning piece that brings hope and joy to all that see what Obama is trying to do.

Before turning against Barack for some of his policies or for what the MSM is reporting as a change, I ask that you stop and think about three things:
-The big picture of where our nation may head if McCain becomes our president;
-The future of our children and grandchildren with promises of war and fear mongering;
-The continuation of a divided and disrespected nation.
Barack Obama has already made many significant changes to our nation:
*The electoral process has been forever changed by creating a campaign for and by the people instead of lobbyists, big business and special interests groups;
*Turning the so-called red or blue states into purple states with a 50-state strategy;
*Noticibly different energy policies that care for the long-range health and well being of the human race and it's people;
*Guiding we the people to come together to make a difference in our own worlds by taking control, care, and responsibility for our selves, families, communities, states, and this campaign.
Ultimately, this campaign is not about Barack Obama, it's about WE THE PEOPLE. Do you really believe that you would have the opportunity to change our world through the politics and policies of any other candidate???
Once in a while I stumble across a site that is so wonderful and encouraging in terms of what people are doing on the behalf of Democracy, our nation and the world that I want to grab everyone I meet by the lapels and say GO HERE. Wait until you see all the great things that the people of the USA are doing.
There are signs of poliitical life all over our nation. People are really standing up and saying no and voting in their state legislatures in support of their no.
The New Rules Project, Designing Rules as if Communiity Matters, is one of these sites. New Rules is a project of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.
I am not a libertarian, but I am a Democrat who agrees with about 50% of what Libertarians advocate while being strongly opposed to the other 50%. To me most of the information on this site stresses local self-reliance within the context of a government that protects the people and provides oversight.

As far as I know, Obama has no part of this. And the precise name for it is "Project for the New American Century" (PNAC)
It was founded by neoconservatives William Kristol and Robert Kagan in 1997 "to promote American global leadership."
Fundamental to the PNAC are the views that "American leadership is both good for America and good for the world" and support for "a Reaganite policy of military strength and moral clarity." What's good for American corporation is great for the world.
This bunch of neoconservative nuts shaped the disasterous foreign policy of the Bush Administration.
Obama is in direct opposition to these fruitcakes. Remember, he is the one who warned against invading Iraq without the "smoking gun" in hand.
On Sunday, I received a gracious e-mail from Jesse the organizer of "Greater Orlando's Team Hillary" which included the following paragraph:
"Many of you have asked about plans beyond June in the event that Senator Clinton fails to secure the nomination. The simple answer is that there will be a transition period at that time to prepare our group to play a role in the election of the Democratic nominee. Not everyone will choose to make that transition with us. I mourn their loss, but respect what must be a very difficult decision for them. Each of us must act according to our consciences. Those of us who remain will take aim at John McCain as we rally under the banner of the Democratic Party."
On Sunday evening I saw the Robin Williams movie "Awakening" on TV. On one level it is "just words," but I took a walk downtown. On the way I saw Harvey. Harvey saw me try to avoid eye contact and said, "it's not about money." It almost always is; Harvey is homeless. I told Harvey about the movie, he told me about Vietnam (Harvey is a Vietnam vet). A couple walked by with a Subway sub in a plastic bag. I asked "Is Subway still doing two for one on Sundays?." She replied, "no, but they have the $5 footlong." Harvey guessed what I was up to, and I bought us each a $5 footlong. Inside Subway was Jerome, who slumped asleep over a large pencil drawing. As Jerome woke he showed me three impressive drawings. Cole seems to be homeless too, but he works for the vendor with the hotdog cart. We discussed our modest hopes for President Obama. While we were there "Magic" walked in with a guitar on his back. Magic had a hat on with cards in the brim and is probably homeless as well. As darkness fell, it wasn't quite an Edward Hopper picture, but there were some guys in a brightly lit eatery in a darkened city.
On a May weekend in 2008, a handful of people in Orlando were inspired by "just words" to be a little better than they might otherwise be.
On Monday, I will do a little day-trading, send out a few more resumes, prepare to attend attend DFA training next weekend. But, I can report that among those most discouraged there is a ray of hope, that America will change for the better under President Obama.

Rival supporters who keep saying that Obama isn't vetted enough are not looking for him to be vetted. They want him to die inside like Bill Clinton died in the 1990's. If you don't believe me that Bill Clinton died inside , take a look at this video. This is what Clinton supporters want to happen to Barack Obama. They want that HOPE that's in him to die and he refuses to let it die.
They want him to walk around slumped over and broken. But he just refuses to die inside. It makes them angry that he won't give in and give up. How dare him. How dare him not go off in a corner and sulk. How dare him mock those who are attacking him. How dare him not whine about a "Right-Wing Conspiracy" out to get him. He's just going on and on and on and won't stop. What an arrogant snob he is for not letting this process kill him inside.

I believe in the clarity of our vision to see right from wrong.
I believe in the overriding goodness that is within each man woman and child.
I believe in a world full of love and hope.
I believe that one day we will all stand together and build a world based on love, not fear.

This just represents Texas, but it makes me nervous anyway.
Satisfied if Clinton Wins Nomination? Clinton Obama
Yes (70%) 66% 33%
No (28%) 10% 89%
Would You Be Satisfied... Clinton Obama Only if Clinton Wins (28%) 97% 3%
Only if Obama Wins (24%) 2% 97%
If Either Wins (42%) 46% 53%
Dissat. With Both (4%) N/A N/A
Satisfied if Obama Wins Nomination? Clinton Obama
Yes (66%) 30% 69%
No (32%) 91% 8%
What this means is that people think that the world will be saved if X gets nomination. WAKE UP AMERICA! We have to save ourselves, we can't expect either one of the candidates to be the change we want to see without us just being satisfied. Sure getting people who can help us into office is part of the plan, but it is NOT the whole plan. Get to work. Become a neighborhood leader, or sign up a friend, ASAP.
The good new is that JUST 43% of Texans would be satisfied if either wins the nomination, and then we get to add back on the candidate who won. That would be a good base to start with in August I hope. Then we can earn back those voters who were disappointed by the primary. I'm also proud to see, once again, that nearly twice as many democrats as republicans came out to caucus or vote. Even in states like Texas, democrats are rocking the vote (in some states it is called Baracking the vote.
I know I'm preaching to the wrong crowd here at DNC.org, but hey. At least those who will read this care. I do repost it on myspace and facebook too ;)
Yes, I voted for Barack Obama, and I support his candidacy. No, I'm not stupid for doing so.
Yes, I voted for Barack because when he spoke against this invasion he stood my me and the millions of other Americans who knew this war was wrong. No, I'm not believing in a fairytale.
Yes, voted for Barack Obama because he has the ability to rally the American People to set aside our differences and see our common purpose. No, I am not a cultist, and I am not drinking kool-aide for doing so.
Yes, I voted for Barack Obama because he will speak with our enemies and negotiate peace instead of unilateral invasion. No, I am not naive for believing we can work out our differences.
Yes, I voted for Barack Obama because his health plan makes real reforms in the Health insurance industry. No, I am not opposed to universal healthcare.
Yes, I voted for Barack Obama because I can't wait to see him kick John McCain's butt in the general election! No, I do not believe its a republican conspiracy to get him nominated.
Yes, I am inspired, and yes I have hope. But I am also bruised and battered from the constant barrage of negativity, calling him anti-semitic, racist, full of hate. I have been called stupid. I have been called a cultist. I have been called hateful. I have been called a racist, even a republican troll - and all manner of funny names.
I will not let these things bring me down. I will not let negativity win.
I am a voter just like anyone else, and my hope is real.
Never underestimate the power of inspiration and hope.
These are two things we need a lot of in our country right now.
We certainly need a dose of it here on Partybuilder.
Peace and Blessings, and may we all come together around the nominee whomever they may be.

The link says it best but here is a brief piece of the information.
-----------
The ad may be new, but we've seen this tactic, from this candidate, before.
Summary
The Obama campaign's new ad uses an old trick and takes quotes from newspapers out of context.
 Once again, the campaign uses a quote from a news story to say Obama's health plan would offer universal coverage. But the full article points out that his plan "does not guarantee" full coverage.
----------------------
The part that gets to me, is "we've seen this tactic before"
Obama is the leading proponent of change and government reform. He is the candidate of hope. During speeches he implies that he is above petty name calling and smear campaigns, he implies he is a man of truth and integrity. I want to believe him, I really do. My heart wants me to vote for him.
I watch rallies and I listen to his supporters talk to me about why he is the best man for the job. I watch his debates and I have read the policies on his website. I see people flock around him and chant his name and gather in large masses to get the word out. I hear the Obama love, but I don't hear the "word." I see his smile but I don't read his commitment. I can understand the need for hope, but I don't understand how he gives it to me.
He doesn't have my trust, and the above mentioned article is only one of many reasons. I wish his supporters could tell me what makes him trustworthy, but sadly they just tell me he is "hope" and he is "love." This isnt the 60s this is the present. We need change and we need help repairing all the damage the Bush Administration has done. I not only need a hug and a promise, I need a leader. I don't need a pat on the head, I need action.
Someone please show me how he is a man of change.
AnneK,
You posted a comment on one of my blogs this morning that made me think. You are right and I am glad you reminded me that I can do better than what I posted about Hillarys Campaign problems. You made me remember this post from July 07 and I want to share some of it with you and thank you for snapping me back into focus. You are right. I am better than that.
Thank you,
Dee Anna
