Two weeks from today is NJASK(New Jersey standardized state) testing. I just have to say that it's totally and completely absurd. Look okay, I'm not in 8th grade math, but I'm on pretty good relations with the new math teacher. He's been giving out practice packets recently, and some of that stuff, I've just learned, and I'm 2 years beyond that already. A lot of my friends bring their practice packets to me so I can check them, and to be honest, some of the smartest people in my grade can barely get a 75% on it. I consider this kind of ridiculous.
My writing teacher also has to endure teaching essay prompts in a different way, since the NJASK requires a format of writing that is not only foreign to us, but it is a form that, if you read it, it would sound like a 4 year old child writing.
Also, my Science teacher has to go off topic just to cover the subjects tested on the NJASK.
My question is this.
If this state test is a PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT, then shouldn't it be testing what we learn, and not us learning what's going to be tested?
It's been a long time since I've checked in with politics, and I'm completely out of the loop. I didn't even participate in the Obama campaign!! I only managed to yell at some of the republicans in my school, and say "Go Obama" like 5 times.
I caught the end of the Maddoff scandal, and did a report on the stimulus package, which I really didn't understand. My teacher said it sounded great, but I probably confused her with random statistics and big words...
I just wanted to say that almost all of my 8th grade class is left wing, and totally supported Obama, which is kind of interesting, since most of their parents are right wing. Back in November, a few classmates and I organized a mock election, and Obama won by a long shot.
All I can do right now in the midst of NJASK testing and graduation is blog about my opinion on Barack Obama's "Audacity of Hope", so bear with me, or buzz off!

Wonder why McCain’s running a dishonorable campaign? Remember the John Kerry smears for his receiving a purple heart and painting him a flip flopper on his votes, where the bills were stacked one way, then another and why he voted the way he did? Well, the answer is: Sarah Palin was director of the 527 Group, where in Alaska they campaigned for unlimited amounts of money. Side stepping a moment, remember Ted Stevens started this group in Alaska and where he’s at today, his trial is ending, by the way. What happened to McCain’s valor, he handed it over to his Pitbull and she’s running it. He speaks, she butts in with her rants that are rallying people to hate speech and why even intelligent Republicans are jumping ship and calling this a disgraceful campaign style. At the convention, Michelle related the story about how Barack gripped the steering wheel of his car and he drove tentatively down the street, protecting his new little newborn daughter. He checked the review mirror frequently to catch a peek just to make sure things were fine.
I trust that Obama checked more than his review mirror on this economy strife and has checked the mirror frequently on other issues as well. I TRUST him fully. He did contact Bill Clinton and others in making his decisions, he keeps informed, and he maintains communication with who he needs to.
Barack gets my vote, for being a: slow, steady, reasonable, intelligent man that is successful at rallying America for CHANGE. He's a uniter, and a man that appears, and acts and WILL emerge as most presidential.
Congratulations to Barack and his family for all the hard work in gaining the electorates needed. We're SIX away. SIX! It touched my heart, when he made a pledge to give his daughters what he had, he's done a great job in moving that direction, not only for his daughters and family, but the human family. He really cares and is concerned. Can you imagine how happy and proud his daughters will be when their daddy becomes the president? Over joyed, so will I. McCain's commercial arrived on my television screen, picking on Barack for not taking Hillary as a VP. Can you believe it, I thought? So yeah, so let's mirror this, like I keep preachin! "Go ahead, vote Barack, really, it's OK, and EVEN Hillary said it's ok. Really I saw it with my own eyes, it's okay, REALLY!" Then walk off and vote.

I think we can end this thing, here and now! She's going to be the highlight of this whole convention. SHE DELIVERED. She's gorgeous inside and out. She's already brought my tears and humbled me and inspired me. Today as I ironed, I thought about how she seemed...well, I thought cold, but that's not it, then I thought strong or unfriendly, but no, that's not it! After watching the documentary tonight, it answered that question of who she is: she learned from her father to be respectful at all cost. So, she reserved and respectful and graciousness to each person she meets. That's not cold, or unfriendly, it's smart.
She will be someone that little girls aspire to and her two daughters are already off to a good start with this great mama. Her mother should be very honored and proud. I cried when her mom said she looks up to her daughter, my mom just said this very comment to me. This Michelle and Michelle Obama have good mom's.
