The 2 Camp Group
About the Author
This is a group of democrats, some Hillary supporters others Obama supporters. We agree that we support different candiates but agree to communicate with civility. We will restrain ourselves from making personal attacks on each other or either candidate. This is a group to ensure the democrats win in 2008

The Big question is why doesn’t anyone have the guts to tell Dick Cheney to shut up?

I can’t believe he is still getting away with claiming that the Bush administration and Republicans kept us safe for 8 years.

Excuse me Mr. X-Vice President September 11, 2001 was on your watch, 2,974 victims of terrorism dead on American soil on your watch Mr. Cheney.

To use a term which is actually an understatement “what hutsba” I guess in Dick Cheney’s mind they didn’t take office until September 12, 2001, well here’s a new flash Dick yours and the Republicans tenure from 2001 to yes even present.

September 11, 2001 – 2,974 dead – Terrorism

March 2003 to present – 4,299 dead Americans – Iraq War

March 2003 to present – 31,156 wounded Americans – Iraq War

The as yet unknown cost of the Bush administration’s failure to finish the job in Afghanistan which has allowed the Taliban to regroup, reorganize and recruit to greater numbers than before the Afghan war.

Persons like Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh talk big they talk brave and they talk as if they are on the front lines of defending America.

The truth is they are only brave precisely because someone else is doing the fighting and dying for America both Cheney and Limbaugh had an opportunity to defend America to show they were actually men and not the cowards we now know them to be.

In Cheney’s case a record five that’s right count them FIVE deferments from service at a time when his country truly needed him.

Years ago I could of answered that question, I could of even said I respected some of them, disagreed with them, but respected them. As is evident in the difference between the 2000 and 2008 McCain Campaign and the fact that some are calling Palin the future of that party, the republicans are in the middle of a schism. Once the cry of the party, small government and leave peoples freedoms alone. If it ain't broke do not fix it, seems to no longer apply. Government has gotten much larger over the last 8 years, peoples rights have been trampled and we have stuck our nose somewhere it did not belong and left it there. The republicans used to be known to favor the rich, but they were also competent, at least not completely stupid!!! They were also not as corrupt as they are now.

I no longer know what a conservative is: The rich board room type, very smart but want small government and low taxes. OR

People who celebrate being stupid, denounce science. Speak plainly(poorly) do not know much, but know how to fix a 1984 ford 150 on the weekend. Palin, who clearly knows very little is now there spokes person.

The party is clearly split and the candidates in that party have to appeal to both factions, as can be seen in the McCain campaign.

The next four years will see where the party goes, if it continues to celebrate stupid people and denounce science, it will have more in common with Bin Laden then with the party we once known.

This is a concern for all of us, having multiple political parties is essential to our country and if the republican parties go all Talaban on us it will hurt the country as a whole. The Christian right in this country is just as dangerous as the Muslim right in the middle east if it goes unchecked. Be warned it can happen here!!! It has before (KKK) but the world today lends itself to more dangerous events for those who practice in ignorance and hatred!!!

We will win on Tuesday, but we need to keep an eye on that party and the conservative movement. Sarah Palin will be a good benchmark to watch
More than two million registered Texans cast a ballot during the first eight days of the early voting period, which ends Friday, Oct. 31.
This is awesome.
With Obama taking a commanding lead in many Red states and gaining momentum there is a real concern, will anyone watch the news on election day? Early voting and what seems to be a clear democrat victory will the election have the same pull as the networks need to charge the large numbers for the commercials they want to charge for? Maybe not!!!!

What to do, what to do? It's time to start supporting McCain, run lots of pro McCain and dare I say it, pro Palin stories. CNN taking the lead there. The same thing was done for Hillary towards the end of the primary, we just did not notice since we were fighting so much.

Expect this to be a very republican week in the news, to make the race tighter, and expect other stories saying its even tighter!!!!

In the long run this should not hurt us since it will only motivate us to go out and vote.

It is just annoying to see the press do this

I just read this from 2 days ago. I have learned to appreciate his calm, matter of fact demeanor

"You know, if I had to make such a decision today, it would be, no, there are a lot that Alaska could be, should be doing to contribute more to the U.S. and I think that I can help do that as governor of the state staying here."

I was just watching them for a minute, to see what the enemy was saying on their channel. Every time a Democrat opened their mouth the republican would start talking just so you could not hear the democrat. Completely unchecked by the anchor. It's bad enough that they are openly bias but they use childish tactics as well. Can you say propaganda. They were talking about the religious social conservatives again, talk about a scary group!!! Does not seem to care about anything except matters that do not count. Creationism????? are you kidding me??? Row vs Wade?? Hey republicans didn't you stand for small government that did not trample our rights and stays out of our bedrooms????? What happened???? I may not of liked every Republican policy but used to be able to respect them, now they are scary. Do we really care if gay couples can get insurance together?? I know there is more to it than that but come on. When did these issues start mattering more than our security and economy?
The campaign is being run so poorly I wonder if McCain's heart is really in it?

I know he would like to be president, he might even be a good president, but the timing is just not right, since a superstar OBAMA is on the scene. But I think the RNC is forcing him to run a campaign he hates, I think 2000 was more McCain's style. You have to think behind the scenes he really does not like the racists and religious radicals he has to pander to
I am shocked that eight years after the 2000 election meltdown we still have not fixed our election process. We buy new digital machines from small little companies, that are easily influenced by money and politics and lack the size or the reputation to build a solid machine. We still do not have a rock solid system for registering voters. I find this amazing when the solution seems so simple.

For voting machines, standardize them, have a common machine across all states. Have the machine created by a company that is large enough and public enough that they would not risk the scandle if the machine was compromised, HP, IBM, APPLE, Microsoft, to name a few.

Voter registration is a bit more complicated but can be resolved by the issue of ID's for all Americans and making them, smart cards which can be used as licenses and other forms of certification, as much as I hate to quote a movie, the multi-pass in the fifth element makes a lot of sense and can save our government lots of money. We already do this in the private sector, its just time for the government to catch up. More important this puts some of the bureaucrats that are mostly corrupt out of a job.
The Back Story:

It's not hard to argue that the last 8 years have been really bad. It is also not hard to argue that McCain's 2000 campaign and message is must better then his 2008. Those two facts along with some recent events beg the questions. Why did McCain not win in 2000, why did he have to change his message? Why Palin? How stupid can she really be now that she thinks she is the future of the party and McCain is a has been? What happened to the republican party, no matter how much of a democrat you are, you have to wonder what happened, it went to the small government not help the small guy as much party to some really scary right wing religious cult. They have gone well beyond Row vs Wade, they do not even believe in Science anymore.

Besides this campaign there has been a growing problem in our country, deliberate ignorance!!! People who are using religion as a venue to breed ignorance, denounce science and intelligence and celebrating ignorance as "American" This Evangelical movement is potentially as dangerous as the radical muslin movement in the middle east. We might be breeding our own Bin Laden. When movements that go unchecked denounce the logic and a major political party is willing to change is core base and platform to feed this ignorance, it will breed intolerance and hurt our country

So why is Obama good for the GOP:

Obama is killing this Campaign, and Palin who must be one of the most ignorant elected officials in recent times is the air apparent of the republican base. When they loose and they realize that the McCain campaign of 2000 would of competed better, and they realize that the party base favors a stupid person, the blood letting will begin. The religious or social conservatives start to be hold in check, and the republican party gets back to its strengths, we can have a good debate again and government can start working again. With the republicans so far to the right and so twisted that they call it main stream, where true main stream is call liberal, no good government can be done with them.

I am a 53 year old catholic. Raised by a grandmother who was "more catholic than the Pope" is how she was described.
My reason for writing here is not to explain my support for Barack but to instead explain why I decided not to be swayed by one issue.
We, as catholics have been for years lead by the nose on that one issue. We have been fooled into voting for bad candidates on that one issue. We have been so neatly stowed in that one issue box that they don't even try to woo us. These guys know all they have to do is ignore all else and put that one issue at the forefront for catholics and we will cave.
I have choosen in this election to look at the greater good for my country. To vote for someone with a vision, with compassion and intelligence.
Barack Obama is a Christian and abortion is an issue that concerns all christians. It is an issue that men and women with bad judgement can not solve. it is an issue that requires education.
We need Barack Obama in office for the sake of all of us. For all of our country.
I don't watch Fox, but was sent this message to text 36288 and in message write { B } for Obama, because their poll has 70% for McCain "winning" the debate.
I very strongely do not like Fox News.
Talking about Carl Rove stating Baracks projected win in electoral votes.
Is this a call to action for those Republicans who are thinking of sitting out the election? A left handed, so to speak, warning that defeat is imminent?
I am trying to figure why he has been making these pronouncements. It can't be for the good.   Read More »
or maybe not:

here is a clip of her dodging a question in a friendly audience

If you have clips of Palin demonstrating how unprepared she is post them
Today is a very bad day, if you read the board that fact is pretty obvious. What you may not realize this is not a crisis, it is much more than that. What is being destroyed here can not be rebuilt, even when the market does recover it will not be the same. Everyone thinks this just happened but that is not the case. This is the collapse of the house of cards we built to hide us from the real truth. Over the last few years maybe 10 we have seen the dramatic destruction of what made our country great. In the late 1930's and for decades after we were a industrial super power, so much so that we were able to manufacture enough material to win a World War. Speaking of WWII besides the manufacturing ability, it is often called the greatest generation ever. Why is that a sense of duty, courage, integrity, and the ability to sacrifice personally for the greater good.

In the 80's into the 90's we let our industrial base deplete, (NAFTA and China Favorite Nation)
We then lost our integrity with Enron and WorldCom, of course compounded by current events.
We our imports of oil at record highs we are more vulunable to countries that hate us, empowering them to attack. Both by funding them and by displaying our weakness in plain site!
With Katrina Bush let the world see us as a third world country as American's walked for days amongst their dead and dying as the country proved feeble.
Now with the collapse of our banking system and wall street we are no longer able to be the beacon of light to the world.

No longer can we say be like us, we have integrity, we have a sense of community, we are the masters of free trade. Perception effects everything, you can not undo this damage. Future generations will not know the America we knew.

Keep you eye on the big picture, people lost their savings today.

The bailout would of cost us 700 billion, we lost 1.2 TRILLION today in the market, unlike the 700 Billion that would of been a loan, that 1.2 TRILLION is just gone, no longer exists!!
