Polls have closed in some states, but you can still vote in many states. Before you head to your polling location today, it’s important to do a little bit of research. Every state has unique requirements about registration, voting laws, ID requirements, and other information you should know before you vote.
RaiseYourVote.com has everything you need to know, in one place, to vote in your state. It lets you know what to bring when you vote- in Illinois, for instance, you generally don’t need ID to vote at the polls. In California, though, you might be asked for ID, so bringing a valid photo ID is going to be crucial.
You can also find your polling place at Raise Your Vote, just by entering your street address and zip code. You can print out your info, see the polling location hours, and add the event to your calendar for later today.
If you have questions before you vote, or need more information, you can call our Voter Hotline at 1-800-311-VOTE (8683). Our trained voting experts can answer any of your calls and make sure that you know what you need to cast your vote.
It couldn’t be any easier- so let’s get out that vote.

The Commit To Vote Challenge on Facebook has been an exciting way to reach out to a new audience of voters. My Facebook feed has been a litany of people, broadcasting to all their friends why they are voting and asking their friends to commit to vote, too. The best part is seeing what is motivating them to cast their votes:
“I am voting to have my voice heard. I am voting to support those in elected positions that are working for me and to show my disapproval to those that are working against my interests.”- Lynn F., Tallahassee, FL
“President Obama has carried through on his promises--now it's time for us to promise to carry out our half of the political equation.”- Ryan T., DeKalb, IL
“I'm voting because I don't want to lose the momentum we're just beginning to gain. We are so much better off than we were two years ago!”- Eliot Prisby., Seattle, WA
But my favorite commitment comes from Nathan S., in Tokeka, KS:
I'm voting because I walked neighborhoods in the swing state of Missouri campaigning for a man who vowed to stand up for many of the things I believe in. I was not alone. It was a movement, a movement that got that man elected, that filled a nation with hope, that inspired a huge number of people…”
Nathan voices the enthusiasm I see and hear from my community, people who haven’t lost the hope we built in 2008, people who don’t know what “enthusiasm gap” the media keeps trying to create. I’m here for people like Nathan, to make sure that the movement we started in 2008 turns in to action for this election and beyond. Now that we’ve committed on Facebook, it’s time to raise our vote to keep our country moving forward-- together.

All across the country, OFA volunteers have been busying dialing phones and talking to their neighbors, spreading the word about the choice in this election. At OFA offices and other community centers, volunteers have been talking to their neighbors, letting them know what’s at stake today and how their vote will help our President.
Today, volunteers around the country will return to those phonebanks with increased urgency- there’s no more time for voters to be undecided at the polls. But, for people who can’t get away to meet with their neighbors, our online call tool takes all the guesswork out of making calls.
The Call Tool is easy to use- you can dial in from anywhere, and logging your calls in the tool puts them right in the call database. Making calls today on your lunch break, while the kids are at school, or after work will make a huge difference in getting voters out to cast their ballot. The first call is a little intimidating, but don’t worry- our script tells you exactly what to say and do to deal with every situation you might encounter.

It’s bright and early on Election Day, and there’s energy all around the country as we head out to the polls. In this busy election cycle, we’ve called voters at home, knocked on their doors, and made deliveries to their inboxes. The message is the same: Vote on November 2nd.
This morning, it’s important to make a plan for Election Day. It’s easy to forget to vote when work gets busy, or when errands run over and it’s time to pick the kids up from school. Prioritizing a trip to your polling place is the surest way to make sure you cast your vote. Are you going to go after work? Perhaps you can fit in on your lunch break?
Whenever you go to vote, checking the hours of your polling location is essential. You can easily find your polling location info at barackobama.com, right on the homepage. Just enter in your street address and zip code, and it generates the address of your location, opening and closing times, and even a map. Just a couple keystrokes and you’ve got what you need to make a plan.
If you still need a little more help, sign up for an Election Day Reminder. Enter your zip code, and the time you plan on voting, and receive a reminder on Election Day to make sure you don’t forget! Every vote counts, and in this election, with tight races around the country, those votes will be critical to keeping the President’s agenda moving forward.
If you can’t make it to a Watch Party, you watch live online at BarackObama.com, beginning at 6:30 P.M. Eastern Time. The President’s speech will be live-streaming right from the site, so there’s no reason to miss out. Sign up for a reminder here.
The President will be laying out what’s at stake this November- and after the last week, it’s even more clear how crucial every vote is. The “Party of No” blocked the DREAM Act and repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ and unveiled a “Pledge to America” that made it clear they don’t care about the middle class, affordable health care coverage, or paring down the national debt. But President Obama and the Democrats supported the DREAM Act and repealing DADT, passed the Small Business Jobs Bill, and celebrated the six-month anniversary of the Affordable Care Act last week. In the next 35 days, I know the President will be working even harder to create the change that matters by keeping Democrats in office. I’ll be doing my part, too- starting with watching his speech tonight.

"Open for Questions" is a new experiment for WhiteHouse.gov, the President’s latest effort to open up the White House and give Americans from around the country a direct line to the Administration.
This first round will deal with a chief concern for all of us: the economy. We’ve created a few categories to better organize the questions, and encourage you to search for a specific question before you submit your own in case it already exists.

AP: Obama claims gains in fight against economic woes

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama claimed early progress Tuesday night in his aggressive campaign to lead the nation out of economic chaos and declared that despite obstacles ahead, "we're moving in the right direction." At the second prime-time news conference of his presidency, Obama also toned down his criticism of bonuses to executives at bailed-out AIG, and shot back at Republican critics of his budget.
In office for 64 tumultuous days, Obama cast his budget — now under review in Congress — as essential if the economy is to recover. The tax and spending plan "is inseparable from this recovery because it is what lays the foundation for a secure and lasting prosperity," he said.
The president also defended the U.S. dollar in the wake of China's suggestion for a universal currency, saying: "The dollar is extraordinarily strong right now," and "I don't believe that there is a need for a global currency."
The news conference, lasting 55 minutes, came at a pivotal, early moment in Obama's young presidency. Democrats in Congress are readying budget proposals that will largely determine how much of his first-term agenda will be passed, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is churning out near-daily proposals to solve the nation's economic crisis and the administration is struggling with public and congressional outrage over bonuses paid to executives of bailed-out AIG. Additionally, Obama departs next week for his first European trip as commander in chief, with the global economy a major focus. Read More »
Take the next step: OFA Pledge Project Canvass
Thursday, March 12, 2009
http://my.barackobama.com/pledgecanvass
On Monday, we announced an ambitious new effort called the Organizing for America [OFA] Pledge Project.
We hope you took part and signed your name to this national display of support as we identify and mobilize supporters of President Obama's economic plan across the country. But now, we need you to take the next step.
On Saturday, March 21st, thousands of people across the country are organizing our first national day of action by hosting Pledge Project Canvasses, where they'll talk to their neighbors and ask them to pledge support for this bold plan to restore our economy.
Host a Pledge Project canvass in your neighborhood and build support for President Obama's economic plan.
http://my.barackobama.com/pledgecanvass
We can't let this plan be debated behind closed doors by special interests or an establishment that doesn't welcome change.
Change has to come from us. We have to show that ordinary Americans are opening their doors to each other, discussing the need for action and demanding this new direction.
For everyone who questions why the President has offered this plan, these pledges will be the answer: because the American people demanded it.
Join our first national day of action now and host a canvass:
