GAY? STRAIGHT? Let's talk RIGHTS
About the Author
What is Gay? Straight? Lets talk rights!
To put it simply, civil rights, looking at the rights of both sides of the issue. How can gay rights not include straight rights and vice versa?
If straight rights are the only rights then gays are denied rights, and vice versa.
Can these rights be equal? I don't think so because the relationships are not equal.
There are unique differences that can not be over come through equal rights.
However, both can have rights that apply to particular sets of circumstances of difference and be fair.
But to apply a set of rights to a set of circumstances which are not possible by one or the other or both sets of rights may lead oppression of the one or the other or both unfairly and unjustly.
Therefore both sets of rights must be addressed together and seperately to address the areas of uniqueness that apply to each grouping type and the areas of commonconcern in both straight and gay groups collectively to give firness to both sides of the issue.

For 13 hours, he'll lie on a couch in the airplane, drink pomegranate-flavored water and watch reruns of Texas Rangers games from the glory days of Nolan Ryan and Jose Canseco
Eventually, he'll land in Beijing, China, for the 2008 Summer Olympics. He'll pose and smile for photos with great Chinese leaders.
You'll definitely read about it in the newspaper, and so will people just like you all over the world; and you'll probably feel pretty good when you do. Like a bottle of cheap gin the whole globe can pass around, the Olympics somehow make it okay to forget for a little while.
This is helpful for most of us, but somewhat unfortunate for the Tibetan people, whose struggle against occupation has gone on for nearly 60 years
In 1951, the Chinese government annexed Tibet and declared it part of China. In 1959, an uprising resulted in the expulsion of the Dalai Lama; since that time he has run a "government in exile" based in India and become a martyr for global political rights.
On March 10, in honor of the 49th anniversary of China's great experiment in the abuse of state sovereignty, Tibetan monks began to protest en masse the continued demonization of the Dalai Lama and China's efforts to ethnically cleanse Tibetans.
China, for its part, pledged to "resolutely crush" those people. Within days, it launched a fresh military campaign in the region. It kicked out journalists and declared no quarter on religious figures.
Anyway, a generation later, as a reward for Chinese progress and a concession that China has established itself as a modern global player, it gets to host the Olympics!
Irony in such high doses should be fatal.

There is so much concentrated effort to divert attention of people away from real issues. I agree that the war in Iraq is something that needs to be addressed. However, how much wasted energy is being put into that effort? Time and time again, Democrates are trying to get a bill passed to end the war. It is what the majority of the people want, Right?
Maybe they are using the effort to add political edge for a future campaign! It appears that this is the direction this campaign season is focusing on. It is the hot topic of discussion in a lot of areas. Brough there by, the party not in power trying to gain control of power!
I will say this much, any attempt to legislate an end of the war in Iraq during the current administrations reign will only meet with defeat. Unless there is sufficent votes needed in congress to over turn a veto of the legislation, which will be done by Georgie or Dicky if Georgie is impeached, unless Dicky is also impeached. Then Pelosi would take great pleasure in signing the legislation.
So face it, we are pretty much stuck with the war until after the elections and a new president takes office. Then things may change. Until then any effort that does not have the needed votes to over turn a veto is a wasted effort (wasted energy). Effort that could be used in so many other ways to find solutions to other problems that face this nation. Of course there is also the impeachment process. Do you think that will get off the ground?

More details to follow, however this is initial concept which can grow and be modified as I receive input from others and develop the idea further myself, as this is a recent though and I am giving it to you all off the top of my head as the idea is forming.
Keep marriage as it is, and define it between a man and a woman. However add in a joint union which any two people may enter into. Where a joint union is similar to a corporation but limited in that it is only two people no more no less. This union gives you legal rights between each other and the assessts of the joint union are that of each member of the union. Tax identification purposes will have to be figured out. The assests of the joint union are passable to offspring of the members of the union as a corporation is passable to others after death of the founder of the corporation except in the case of "S" corp or sole propriatorship. Like corporations become entities to themsleves so should the union and certain legal rights are developed by a corporation so should it be by a joint union.
Joint unions would allow any two people to enter into a union of the kind, irregardless to the gender of the persons entering into the union. Joint unions should be confined in that if a person is already in one can they can not enter into another. I think it would be a good thing to disallow severance of the union as well. Where marriage is divorceable, this not only gives gays rights in unions but also gives straights a union that is unservable for those that feel that they would not wish to become divoriced from their partner at some point in the future. Also people that are already married may enter into a joint union with their current spouse however they could not enter into a joint union with any other person than their spouse with out first divoricing their current spouse.
Thoughts welcome as this is a new and developing idea and your thoughts may be included into its development.

To make a conventional Hydrogen Electric Generating Plant that can self sustain?
Something that has always been a concern since my days of living in San Francisco was that of segregation of the GLBT community. It is a concern to see a minority start to look for or seek differences and hold those differences so dear that it causes a split in the fabric of the "happy, open-minded community."
What has gone wrong? Why am I seeing GLBT Americans struggling so hard to hold onto their personal differences that they, as a minority, have to take their common bonds and take the community and place it into segments.
As if it is not bad enough we live daily in racial segments, however, now we have to live in racial-sociological and micro-sociological societies? There was a time when communities accepted their common bond and used them to bridge the gap between themselves and other members of the community as well as those outside of it.
Since when did our nation, our community, become far more comfortable with division than commonality. Since when did our nation and our community seek isolationism and xeno-socialphobic habits over open-minded and welcome habits?
The gay community has become as fragmented as the social majority. So now I ask - when will this quest for absolute individualism, isolationism, and social-racial segregation stop? The time is now.

Hello fellow citizens, minorities, and fellow democrats. This is a time of dire crisis. We all know of the Republican Right's campaign and widly outrageous support of the Iraqi Conflict. However, what it widly unknown to the masses and not covered by the media machine is the internal conflicts we have at home.
This government, and it's supporters, have trampled all over the very foundations of this government, the foundations established by our cherished and magnificent fore fathers. These foundations, and literally the core of the grand vision founded by our former great leaders, was equality for each man, woman, and child who is to step foot upon this soil and call it home.
It is not in the media's interest to cover these topics. Why, such a bold accusation? It is the simple fact that stories covering these topics will not sell the papers or draw masses to the screen like that of the images of war, conflict, morning, and loss. The people want to see spilt blood, they want to quinch their thirst for vengnece, they wish to empty their pocket books to the Right and press for a campaign of bulliness and massacre.
The 2004 election hot topic of gay marriage was a poster child of the Anti-Equality Campaign. This country, boldly shouting the promise that this is the golden land of opportunity has turned those words simply into a marketing campaign to get the people of the globe to continue to support and favor us and our actions.
We, the citizens, those who are wronged and trampled by the government know that this is in fact not true. It is a lie - all lies.
It is true, the issue of gay marriage is not the only social, moral, and civil atrocity that has taken place in this country, especially by the current administration. Hate crimes are on the rise. The country is even more divided then ever before. Marketing companies, big business, and the media capitalize on this division and are pressing for two entirely different ways of life. Yes, the media and the government have effectively looked to blindly drive people to support their products, visions, and morals. However, what we are seeing now is a nation that is far from what it was founded to become, it is lost, and confused. It is a very angry, vengeful, materialistic society that has two opposing sides that can barely coexist.
The first thing cried out by the minorities is special rights, special protection, special liberties to support their way of life. However, I demand for equal protection, equal enforcement of the law. Some citizens need to compromise and join together - at a common ground.
What must happen is a multi-step process that will take much, much time. However, two major things we must have is as follows:
1. We, as citizens, must stop looking out only for ourselves, but we must, absolutely must look out for each other. We are all equal and we are all people of the land - this land, and we must stop bickering over petty differences and stand united to make this nation a better one. We must band together to help eliminate the moral and social crises that face us today.
2. The second thing we must do is not act for special rights, but we must go to the agencies that create, uphold, and enforce the laws and rights of this nation and demand that everyone be protected and given equal protection. No individual stands differently in this nation. Law Enforcement Agencies must punish their officers and staff who abuse their power and do not uphold the law fairly and equally. Agencies must learn to turn a blind eye to prejudice and advocate for equality. They are, after all, enforcers of the law and they must also protect the those laws and the rights of the nation.
They are, and should be, responsible for more than catching criminals in the masses, in the public, but they also much catch those inside of their own organizations. They must also look beyond just punishing the bad, but they should, no must, become a good example of the law and show that it is used for protection and not just punishment.
We are in dark times - both globally and locally. It is time we look inwards on this nation and work on how we treat every citizen with equality and dignity. It is time we maintian the home, not just the globe. The government was established to help insure every citizen was safe and that we lived in a happy, peaceful society. We have fallen from that goal and we have become very troubled. And it is due to this negligence from those at Capital Hill that we are facing social and moral injustice. The first thought of all nations is to insure it's people are safe and secure - it is time the United States reach into the hearts of the people and help make our nation a better place . . .

Danger, Danger everywhere, on land, on sea and in the air. We must be vigil of those who dare to cheat freedom from those who care.
Its not just we who face this plight terrorism lures many to join the fight.
Placing freedom in harms sites so guarding our freedom is just and right!

Would you support these two amendments or One of them (if so which one) or neither of them?
1. Future generations are essential to the security of a free state; therefore, marriage is defined as between two individuals who based on their genders at birth pose a potential for sexual reproduction.
2. No person having reached the age of majority shall be denied the right to choose a partner in adult relationship of their choice, nor shall any person be oppressed based on their choice of partner in adult relationship.
Replies welcome. My answer is posted in the group Gay? Straight? Lets talk RIGHTS. If you care to know what my opinion is.
