Children of our nation
About the Author
Who says children can't be democrats? We have our opinions too. Why can't they be heard? Why do we have to live in darkness until we are old enough to vote?

On Monday, Wisconsin Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton (D) droped out of the 2010 Wisconsin gubernatorial race and that puts eyes on Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett to enter the gubernatorial race as the Democratic candidate. Rumors have been around since August of this year that Mayor Barrett might be a candidate for Governor.

On Tuesday, Wisconsin for Tom Barrett launched TomForGovernor.com, a supplement to their Facebook Group that has over 700 members supporting Mayor Barrett for Governor in 2010.

From TomForGovernor.com:

Wisconsin for Tom Barrett is aimed at asking and supporting Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett to run as a candidate for Wisconsin Governor. We believe Mayor Barrett is the best Democratic candidate for the Governor's Office. Mayor Barrett has been committed to creating family supporting jobs, strengthening neighborhoods. We believe that Mayor Barrett will make Wisconsin a safe and healthy environment for every resident.

Please join us in encouraging Mayor Barrett to run for Governor of the State of Wisconsin.

Scott Walker, the only major Republican candidate for Governor in Wisconsin, has already raised over one million dollars and is working hard to raise another million dollars while the Democrats in Wisconsin don't have a candidate. We need to keep Wisconsin a Blue State.

Please check out TomForGovernor.com and join the Facebook Group. Please encourage Mayor Tom Barrett to run for Wisconsin Governor. Mayor Barrett has a better political resume than other Democrat else considering a run. He is not only a politician but a citizen that cares deeply for Wisconsin.

This is my own opinion. I don't have solid statistics...

Two weeks from today is NJASK(New Jersey standardized state) testing. I just have to say that it's totally and completely absurd. Look okay, I'm not in 8th grade math, but I'm on pretty good relations with the new math teacher. He's been giving out practice packets recently, and some of that stuff, I've just learned, and I'm 2 years beyond that already. A lot of my friends bring their practice packets to me so I can check them, and to be honest, some of the smartest people in my grade can barely get a 75% on it. I consider this kind of ridiculous.

My writing teacher also has to endure teaching essay prompts in a different way, since the NJASK requires a format of writing that is not only foreign to us, but it is a form that, if you read it, it would sound like a 4 year old child writing.

Also, my Science teacher has to go off topic just to cover the subjects tested on the NJASK.

My question is this.

If this state test is a PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT, then shouldn't it be testing what we learn, and not us learning what's going to be tested?
since I came here.

It's been a long time since I've checked in with politics, and I'm completely out of the loop. I didn't even participate in the Obama campaign!! I only managed to yell at some of the republicans in my school, and say "Go Obama" like 5 times.

I caught the end of the Maddoff scandal, and did a report on the stimulus package, which I really didn't understand. My teacher said it sounded great, but I probably confused her with random statistics and big words...

I just wanted to say that almost all of my 8th grade class is left wing, and totally supported Obama, which is kind of interesting, since most of their parents are right wing. Back in November, a few classmates and I organized a mock election, and Obama won by a long shot.

All I can do right now in the midst of NJASK testing and graduation is blog about my opinion on Barack Obama's "Audacity of Hope", so bear with me, or buzz off!
Other contenders for titles of this blog were......

"Is That Your Inside voice or Your Outside Voice?"

and

"Let's Trade Lessor Teachers for Better Teachers!"

It is ironic how preoccupied American teachers are with professionalism within their peer relations, while at the same time exhibiting a variable scale of unprofessionalism with their students. Let's just say I have been around the block, met and seen dozens of teachers in action, and I have to give the cake to a couple I am working with now.

Today I think I lost some hearing in my right ear. I was standing only a few feet away from a "colleague" who was screaming at the top of her lungs (which I abhor). She was down the hall from some students near her classroom, which she wasn't near, alas, her need to engage in blood curdling screaming.

Isn't it about time, someone speaks up? Is yelling and screaming an acceptable method of discipline to employ on students? Is verbally accosting and berating students the most effective means of getting results? I have seen enough to answer that. No, it only makes things worse.

Hearing this teacher scream so loud it hurt my ears, is getting old, really old. Then as if by some remarkable stroke of ignorance, she turned around to the group of teachers I was standing with, smiled, and said, "yelling works." The only thing worse than the lack of common human respect she shows to students (6th graders) is the way she speaks of them to her "colleagues"

I am awe-struck at what I hear when teachers talk to each other. Evidently it perfectly acceptable to bad mouth a student openly to other teachers. "So and so is lazy", "he's just lazy', "she's just lazy", it's about as distasteful for me to hear as if I were watching them say it to the child's face. Excuse me, but aren't we teachers supposed to say "lacks motivation", instead of lazy? By the way, isn't it up to teachers to take the responsibility for motivating students if they lack it?

If yelling, has not accomplished improved achievement, and it apparently has not, then it is time to stop, even if it does effectively quiet the classroom. Some of the less favored kids have gone from bad to worse, and a couple of these teachers seem to just get angrier and angrier. That doesn't help.

It is as though we are caught in a rut. The kids don't listen, when teachers scream they tune out. They stop caring or doing their work, and the teachers get mad, yell, and berate, and the kids continue to withdraw and do worse. This cycle can repeat itself until the child ages out of the public system. It's like these yellers and irate teachers don't have the intellectual and emotional tools, to be optimistic and encouraging, when it's needed most.

Listening to the way these teachers talk to the students is such a turn off, but listening to them talk about the students is absolutely sickening. It is quite easy to sympathize with the student and understand why he/she doesn't listen, I have even found myself wanting to hide under something on several occasions when watching a teacher berate one of students. Yet, speaking out against teachers who obviously do not model appropriate behavior is strongly discouraged. It's kind of like how medical doctors stick together during malpractice suits.

Hey Everyone:

Just wanted to let you all know that I have a page on the Democratic National Committee's website! I'm trying to raise money to ensure that the party can support its strategy in the years to come, and your contribution would really help me reach my goal.

http://www.democrats.org/page/outreach/view/total/aheimermann

Remember, with your help this past year, I was able to raise $13,725 from 335 for Barack Obama and Joe Biden. I've set a fundraising goal of $500 for the Democratic National Committee. As a remember, all of the donations goes directly to the DNC and I got earn a cent.

My name is Asher Heimermann, 14, from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I am supporting Barack Obama because I believe he is the right candidate to bring the change we need. I know that Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden are best prepared to address our economic crisis by bringing tax relief to working families, protecting American jobs and investing in education and new technology. As a student in a public high school in the Midwest, I understand the importance of education and how my education will lead to my career later in life.

Senator Obama has dedicated his career to bring people together to tackle the large issues facing our country. As a state Senator he worked with Republicans to expand healthcare to 150,000 children in Illinois and passed $100 million in tax cuts for working families. In the United States Senate, Senator Obama worked across the aisle to pass ethics reform leglation that was described as the "gold standard" for ethics reform. He worked with Republican Senator Richard Lugar to pass legislation to secure dangerous nuclear weapons.

As President, Senator Obama will bring the change we need and make this economy work for the middle class families by cutting their taxes and reducing the cost of gas and healthcare. I support Senator Obama and Senator Biden because I want America to be the country of hopes and dreams. I hope that you will join me and support Barack Obama and Joe Biden on November 4th. Time and time again, Senator Obama has proven himself as a leader who can bring together people of all different backgrounds and beliefs to help us address the important problems facing the country. He is the type of leader we need in Washington to get this nation on the right track.

If you’d like more information about Senator Obama or Senator Biden’s positions or would like to get involved in our campaign, you can call 1-866-675-2008 or visit www.BarackObama.com. Only you can decide who our country’s next President of the United States of America will be.

MY PERSONAL FUNDRAISING GOAL:

As a young American, I dream of a President who is honest, personable, intelligent, and wise. I want a leader with courage and integrity who has known the struggles of an everyday American. A lot of people have stopped believing that may even be possible. I haven't stopped believing. I support Senator Barack Obama because he is that leader.

http://my.barackobama.com/asherheimermann

Please help donate to personal fundraising goal for Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden. Every dollar counts. You're not just helping me reach my personal fundraising goal but you're also helping Senator Obama and Senator Biden get elected as our next President and Vice President of the United States of America.

Obama said McCain is "proposing $300 billion in new tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and the biggest corporations. That's not even something George Bush proposed. Not even George Bush proposed another $700,000 tax cut to the average Fortune 500 CEO. Not even George Bush proposed a plan that would leave 100 million middle-class families out of tax relief."

Obama is hoping for sunnier skies later in the day in Virginia, where he is making his ninth visit since securing the nomination. He is hoping to win the commonwealth for the Democrats for the first time since 1964, and will hold rallies in Harrisonburg and Norfolk.

You can tell from this picture that she adores her grandson and his cheek bent towards her head shows he's loving her back.

She loves him, he loves her…Grandma. Aren't grandma's simply wonderful? He says that she gave him everything, so that he could develop into the person he is. Thank you Grandma Tutu! And stay strong. You’re America’s Grandma and sweetheart - we love you!

October 20, 2008, the Obama campaign announced that he would suspend campaign events on October 23 and 24 to attend to Dunham. His communications director told reporters that she had fallen ill in the preceding weeks, and that while she was released from the hospital the week before, her health had deteriorated "to the point where her situation is very serious.

Here's a message from Barack Obama about how funds coming in are now DOUBLED, so here goes:
In these final three weeks, our opponents are signaling they will do whatever they can to distract voters and distort the truth, so we need to redouble our efforts.

The negative ads and smears seem to grow by the day. The most effective way to respond is by reaching out to more people than ever before with the truth -- the stakes in this election are too high not to.

We need to grow this movement by 100,000 new donors before Friday.

A previous donor has promised to match your donation to encourage you to give for the first time. This is your last opportunity to partner with a fellow supporter and make your donation go twice as far.

Your donation of $5 will become $10, $25 becomes $50, and $50 becomes $100. Double your impact by making a matched donation today.   Read More »
Okay, so I am a genius. This is what we do:

So everyone is naturally full of shit right? A week before election day we get every single person who ever voted for Bush to take a very potent laxative which would result in an environmental disaster. Obama being more talented at environmental issues, then sweeps in and saves the nation from the mudslide and gains a landslide victory. The plan is flawless and symbolic on so many levels.

Let's be very clear about what's at stake this November. We're either going to get ourselves back on track or we're gong to face another round of the same failed policies we've had for the last eight years.

I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a change. That's why I'm so excited about Senator Barack Obama.

So, here's what I want you to do. Click Here, and join me in making a contribution to elect Senator Obama this November. With the support of hundreds of Democrats across the nation, I have already raised $4,400! I still need to raise $500 more to reach my fundraising goal.

I believe we're about to elect one of the greatest presidents in a long time -- Barack Obama. But if his campaign is not funded until Election Day, his agenda to help middle-class families is going to run into a roadblock.

http://my.barackobama.com/asherheimermann

I know that politicians are constantly asking for your money and support. But you have to remember that Senator Obama is not a career politician. He's a man who knows what America needs are and knows what he's fighting for. And, with our help, he'll be a President we can be proud of.

Midnight Tuesday, September 30th, is the financial reporting deadline for this month. The resources we have on hand going into October will determine our ability to compete in key battleground states. John McCain can't win this election by running on his experience as a Washington insider who voted with President Bush 90% of the time. So now he's trying to claim he's the candidate of change. The fact is, while John McCain mouths the word "change," his record and his platform scream out for more of the same.

Americans need change now, and Senator Barack Obama and me need your help to get the word out about this movement.  In the coming days, it's going to be up to you to organize locally and reach the voters that are going to decide this election.

Now's the time to make your voice heard. I've made my voice heard all across America in the last months by making calls and spreading Senator Obama's message of change. Please make a donation of $5 or more right now to support this campaign for change:

I know that in the past, I've asked for Democrats and fellow Barack Obama supporters to donate to my personal fundraising page but sadly, many of you have not even made a donation. I'm not asking for you to make huge donations, I'm just asking for $5 or more to help me reach my fundraising goal.

The September financial reporting deadline is on Tuesday at midnight, and we have an opportunity to show that a campaign funded by ordinary people can go toe-to-toe with the Washington lobbyists and special interests lined up behind John McCain and the Republican Party.

Most of you already know, but for those that don't, I'm a high school freshman in Wisconsin. I've donated so much time to Senator Obama, his campaign, and the Democratic National Committee. I can't vote for another four years but I'm counting on all of you to make the right choice on November 4.

I knew Democrats would give generously to my personal fundraising page on BarackObama.com to help me reach $5,000 fundraising goal and my efforts to elect Barack Obama as our next President. Today, I'm calling upon every American to support and vote for Senator Barack Obama in this presidential election. As a young American, I want to see a America that everyone that wants a job, can have one. As Americans, we can make history and turn this country back on the right direction!

Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin is not the change that Americans are looking for. Senator Obama's speeches come from his heart and from what he has learned. Governor Palin's 2008 Republican National Convention speech was written by President George W. Bush's speechwriter. If Senator McCain and Governor Palin wants to define ‘change’ as voting with George Bush 90% of the time, that’s their choice.

Each and every time, a new generation has risen up and done what's needed to be done. Today we are called once more - and it is time for our generation to answer that call. Let us be that generation that elect Barack Obama and put America back on track and made it truely great once again.

I've said this from day one of this presidential campaign. I thank Senator McCain for his service for this country but he is not the person that I believe is ready to lead America or even ready to understand the problems that Americans have.

Do we want a President that supports George W. Bush's policies and goals? Do we want a President that opposed creating a federal holiday in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.? Do we want a President that is against funding of sex education?

Do we want a Vice President that hates community organizers? Do we want a Vice President that abuses her powers? Do we want a Vice President that strongly supports development of oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge?

Senator Obama is not in this race for President just to hold an office, but to gather with you to transform America. Senator Obama wants us to win that next battle - for justice and opportunity. Senator Obama wants to win that next battle - for better schools, and better jobs, and health care for all.

I want a President that favors the concept of equal pay for everyone. I want a President that supports a tax plan which includes an $80 billion tax cut for American poor and middle-class families. I want a President that has strong record of support for clean air. I want a President that understands Americans problems and issues. I want a President that wants healthcare for every American.

I want a Vice President that supports teachers and schools. I want a Vice President that wants funding to find new energy sources other then drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. I want a Vice President that favors adding sexual orientation to the criteria for a hate crime. I want a Vice President that is against giving tax cuts for big corporations.

Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, please join me in supporting Barack Obama for President and Joe Biden for Vice President of the United States of America. I may not be able to vote in this election but tose can vote in America can show the world that we want REAL change!

Did you hear the old boy last night? Distancing himself from his own party at their convention, how surreal.
And then in his speech he asks us to be part of his vision for government, but I could never figure out what that vision is. Well if this election is about a Vietnam War hero and about the 1970's then McCain is your kind of guy.

But as for me I heard nothing about the economy, nothing about the middle class, nothing about the future and how to really make the changes to bring this country back from the flames of depression. Change, change John McCain? Are you kidding me? Change from you? It was to funny to stupid to be believed last night. So, don't be fooled it will be more of the same, Bush 3 not McCain 1 that would happen if by chance McCain wins in November. May it never be Democrats! Elect Obama/Biden for the sake of our country we so dearly love.
Many of you younger people will not remember this former Republican Vice President who was chosen by Richard M. Nixon to be his hatchet man and was Vice President from 1969-1973. Like Palin, Agnew was a Governor, only he was from Maryland, Agnew was the first Vice President to resign after being found guilty of tax evasion and fined.

The real reason I bring up Agnew is that the RNC will always in presidential elections use an ideologue right winger somewhere to keep their so called base happy with pablum. Nixon did this with Agnew in 1968 and so McCain is doing this with Palin in 2008.

I heard the GOP anger this morning on MSNBC as Joe Scarborough(R) and Mika Brzezinski(R) kept praising Palin as a new fresh voice, Joe saying I never heard anything like this before! as he was berating Senator Amy Klobuchar (D) from Minnesota. Senator Klobuchar correctly was making the point that what Palin said last night is the same divisive rhetoric we have been hearing from the Republican right wing for the last 8 years. What we really were hearing was a script that had been played out in the election of 1968 between Agnew against Democrats and the press.

Once again Americans are being played by the Republicans who cant run on the economy, who cant run on peace in the world, who cant run from a position of US strength in the world, who basically have nothing to run on because the record is clear, Republicans have failed American families once again. We see a lot of fluff in St. Paul with failed politicians that try to label true Americans like Obama and Biden as your enemy.

Democrats we live in a very serious time, we cannot afford, allow or be confident in a future for America with Republicans again, please do not fall once again for the GOP lying and hate machine.

Elect Barack Obama President of the United States and Joe Biden Vice President of the United States, truly the future of our great country cannot take four more years of Bush Cheney policies masked under the package of McCain and Palin.

Thank you
Remember Zel Miller speaking in front of the RNC convention in 2004? And now Leiberman who is still mad at the DNC over the Ned Lamont issue. For spite Joe keeps trying to hurt his former party. When Leiberman called himself a Democrat last night I spit at the TV and cursed the SOB.

He is NO Democrat. He is a revengeful spiteful man who allows himself just like Zel Miller to be used by the Right Wing extremist RNC. Oh by the way where is Zel?
As I remember the Republicans threw him away like a dirty rag after they bled him for all they could get. And so it will happen to Joe. Poor Joe, wanting so badly to trust the right wing and believing they will embrace unity and change.

Joe will you never learn? Joe unfortunately you too will be cast aside once the GOP decides you served your purpose for them and they have no further use for you just like Zel.

And just an observation on the Right Wing Convention, it's the economy stupid, but as Americans know the GOP can't really talk about domestic issues, just guns war and bombs.
I missed like a month on Party Builder, what happened to the Crazy Hillary Supporters Like Femdemo, Paul Hammond and True Blue?
