Environmentalists and supporters of a practical, and efficient fuel source (derived from our urban trash at our local landfills) that promote our trash being turned into treasure, UNITE!
Living in the mecca of American automobile manufacturers, and once again ticked off about gasoline prices, I decided to find information regarding an alternative fuel source. Surfing the Net, I stumbled upon a publically held company known as BlueFire Ethanol, which is where I began to learn about ethanol, particularly cellulosic ethanol. Reading the information posted at the BlueFire Ethanol site, I began to learn the difference between corn-based ethanol (also known and currently sparsely sold as E85) and cellulosic ethanol.
The next thing I know, on the March 12th, 2007, broadcast of Fox News Network's "On The Record with Greta Van Susteren", they hosted President Bush allowing him to make a feeble attempt at speaking about the subject of cellulosic ethanol. Cellulosic ethanol is an extremely efficient fuel source derived from green waste and wood residue. If Bush and his people had done their research correctly (hasn't THAT happened before?), they would have realized and known that it makes absolutely no sense to continue production of ethanol with a corn based product (as has happened, on a small scale). Talking with Van Susteren, Bush spoke conveying that we had not made enough advancement to institute cellulosic ethanol at this point. He said that as a result, that we have no choice but to produce and utilize corn-based ethanol because the technology to produce cellulosic ethanol is not available. Here's the thing ... To continue ethanol production using a corn base will cause an increase in supply and demand, clearly causing the cost of corn to spike upward in the months and years to come.
An interesting and "funny" thing; You mean that Bush didn't appear to know that his U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Cellulosic Grant Program (that awarded up to 385 million dollars!) was given to cellulosic ethanol biorefineries (including BlueFire Ethanol)? That tells us that someone must think that BlueFire Ethanol (and the other biorefineries awarded grants) focus must be quite viable.
For BlueFire, this grant was awarded to them to develop a solid waste biorefinery project at a landfill in Southern California. For the record, BlueFire Ethanol has no need to research how to get this project going. It's our government that seems to have some need to do research (or waste money?) on a patented and proven process that exists and is currently being utilized in Japan.
Because of that patent, BlueFire Ethanol happens to be established and ready to deploy the commercially ready, and proven Arkenol Technology Process that utilizes urban trash (from landfills), rice and wheat straws, wood waste and other agricultural residues (Reference: www.bluefireethanol.com; FOR FACTUAL VERIFICATION) . BlueFire Ethanol simply needs more funding in order to produce the many refineries needed to make the product: fuel.
Question: Does Bush have a personal investment in the industry of farming (specifically, corn farming) just as it has been reported that he has (or has had) a personal financial investment in crude oil? You decide.
So, here we go again. Taking steps backward (with first generation production of ethanol being corn-based) when we could now stop there, and take steps forward.
It would be practically unanimously agreed that to take steps backward in the area of energy efficiency is simply stupid. Instead of "the powers that be" beginning with the currently available Arkenol Technolgy Process (by way of BlueFire Ethanol, or any other company like it, by the way), we have begun producing ethanol derived from corn, obviously. Besides the apparent pluses of making fuel with trash, something else to consider is that our initial ethanol factories will probably have to be retrofitted (from corn refining to trash and "green waste" refining) which will more than likely be something else that will cost us all more money.
In the future, be prepared to re-orangize your menu plans when corn could become such a highly priced commodity that it's almost a delicacy.
When we realize that the corn that we've normally served at our summertime backyard barbeques is scarce (if not available at all) because our nations corn farmers will not have the ability to keep up with supply and demand, let's also remember not to "freak out", or complain about it. The corn will be in our fuel tanks.
Let's remember to keep our mouths closed (when we approach the produce departments within our local grocery stores) when we realize that we are faced with corn prices that are so high that it will cause our jaws to drop.
Obviously, this hasn't happened, not yet.
This is what we will most likely have to look forward to. Will "they" be wise enough to produce the second wave (or second generation) of technology called cellulosic ethanol? Cellulosic Ethanol Rocks! supposes that if we don't ask questions, form opinions, and make a decision about how we feel about this, that it's "par for the course". Once more, "they" will make our decision for us. Hence, what we'll gain in paying a lesser price at the pumps, we'll lose within the produce department's fresh corn aisle at our local grocery stores.
Maybe then, we will recall having heard about this possibility. And, that this could have been avoided in the first place.
To begin production of an ethanol, cellulosically, has obvious advantages that far outweigh continuing production with a corn based ethanol.
It just makes sense.
Use our urban trash (taken from our local dumps) as treasure; fuel. And, use our fresh grown corn to feed the nations!
And, don't let anyone fool you.
It seems that we won't ever become detached from the petroleum industry. Not for many years, if ever. Just like the manufacturers will continually utilize petroleum and our water supply, which environmentalists (like the members of Cellulosic Ethanol Rocks!) are up in arms about. Because so many things that we use are directly (or indirectly) manufactued with petroleum and water, we obviously do know and understand that the boycott of cellulosic ethanol is futile. Especially, in any debate over it's use in regard to it being made with water. Besides better prices at the pump, The Arkenol Technology Process, when used to make cellulosic ethanol reduces the potent greenhouse gas, methane. This is done by using post-sorted municipal solid waste as feedstock and available landfill gas in order to generate thermal and electricity needs. There's an old saying, "don't put the cart BEFORE the horse". Big business auto companies (and any and every other manufacturer and/or company making or selling anything) are the ones who the environmentalists that boycott cellulosic ethanol, for the sake of water, should go after; the ones who make the cars and trucks that utilize water (and have done so for years) to produce the vehicles that we all drive, that are powered by the fuel that we all need. The anti-cellulosic ethanol environmentalists need to shift their focus. Start at the beginning, or at the top (with Big Business). Not in the middle, or at the end (with cellulosic ethanol biorefineries). Everyone knows that to start at the end is completely backward.
When anti-cellulosic ethanol environmentalists find a tested, patented, and proven fuel source for all of us to use to drive our cars, trucks, tractors, and such (without any company involved utilizing water), they need to let us ALL know.
Cellulosic Ethanol Rocks! environmentalists, pro-water people ourselves, haven't heard of (or found) anyone offering a tested, patented, and proven, ready-for-market-use, alternative fuel that is any better. Any other unproven, supposed fuel source being touted today is based out of purely rhetorical ideas, speculation, and unfortunate highly unlikely promises, and spin. That reminds me of another old saying, "Y'know ... That dog don't hunt!".

That is the question I am asking myself. Watching little snipets of the news( I don't watch the news anymore, I read it online) , I'm worried. Town hall "tea baggers" who carry loaded guns outside of presidential events, shout "Death To Obama" and other degradations all because President Obama wants to change health care for the better. There are also the "birthers" who want to deny President Obama's US citizenship because they still cannot believe that an African American man is president of this country. And the frosting on the right-wing backlash cake, manipulating the American public, scaring them into thinking that Obama is a socialist, Sarah Palin's "death panels," etc.
We all know who is running this whole backlash, the Republican Party. Here's the proof: Rupert Murdoch has a monopoly on American mainstream news media, and every cable news station is either connected to him through mutual CEO friendships/funds. What Murdoch thinks is broadcast on every network in every shape or form. Murdoch is a registered Republican. To add to that, investors in these networks who are politically conservatives have the last say in what narratives and perspectives get put on screens. Why is Dobbs, Beck, and Cramer still on the networks when they screwed up so much and scare people to death? Think certain Arabian leaders who fund al-Queda and you have another form of domestic terrorism. Republican Congressmen and women are ordered by Steele to do whatever means possible to prevent universal health care from happening in this country "by any means necessary." Tap on Murdoch's shoulder, and we have our population scared shitless and left even more ignorant and uneducated on how Obama's health care will help us. Who is running this operation? G-O-P, who want to run this country from the backseat. Old strategies indeed. The GOP won in 1994, they shouldn't win in 2009.
Another aspect of the GOP's desire to lynch President Obama is inherent racism. With everything Obama does, he is inspected and thought of differently because of the color of his skin. Former president Bush made this country so close to fascism, yet everyone is viewing his efforts as light and favorable. Now, an African American man is president and they are giving him the Malcolm X treatment. Talk about a double standard! Not to mention, if anything, this health care thing and people's misunderstandings on it have wakened the sleeping dragon, of racism. All this is hype and fear, what is this? The Bush Administration?!
If anything, people just need to educate themselves or at least someone should start a bumper sticker campaign, "Eight Years We Lived With An Idiot, Time To Start Thinking Again." I don't want to see President Obama hanging from a noose outside of the White House.

A while ago, President Obama said that he would like the world to no longer have and use nuclear weapons. Obviously, it is easier said than done.
In the wake of North Korea's attitude, however, I feel like as busy as we are with reviving our strong diplomacy, we need to use that again towards North Korea and use our resources properly to prevent any immature actions from taking place.
As someone who just experienced eight years of weak diplomacy and a man who only knew how to exploit them for his and an exclusive fews benefit, it is VERY important to stress that we need to use our diplomacy and not ending up prematurely exhausting it just to prove who's the man here. It is time to make peace a priority. We don't have to lead nations through conservative imperialism, we can lead by example. If we make peace a priority, we can energize our diplomats to encourage the same thing.
In the past, America has gone through a Cold War whose leftovers we still have in the refrigerator of our collective minds, and Bush did set up a Reaganite international standard before leaving his presidency. This American does not want 20th century reruns to determine the course of action for the next 4-8 years. If we make peace a priority, and actually work towards achieving that, then we can not deal with unfriendly countries and their nuclear experiments. Personally, I think Kim Jong-Il is bluffing when it comes to the whole "let's test nuclear arms on Hawaii so I can be taken seriously," but the mentality I have applies not only to him in this circumstance. Any male world leader who is trying to prove his masculinity through nuclear arms is not a man, but a coward with ammunition. George W. Bush was a coward with ammunition by trying to prove his masculinity through invading Iraq. I think President Obama is saying one thing and working out ways of preventing the worst from happening, which is good. It's pragmatic. We need pragmatism.
Because I for one, could live in a world without nuclear arms.

I was watching Wall Street last night, the Oilver Stone movie, and it suddenly hit me that the past 8 years, with Bush in office has been like a Ronald Reagan wet dream in regards to the three fundamentals of government.
Economically, it was all about spending money, giving tax breaks to the better off, corporate tax breaks, and flushing our money down the drain into a guaranteed quagmire of foreign policy excrement(Iraq).With the rich getting richer and being allowed to break the rules for personal gain, we had an economic culture of Gordon Gekkos running around.
How this transpired into our foreign policy is this: Bush's Iraq was Reagan's Iran-Contra realized. By invading a country and using an unjustified,invalidated excuse(Reagan-communism; bush-terrorism), Bush was able to sponge benefits from Halliburton and disguise it as "bringing democracy to the world" but in effect giving communists in Nicaragua the same juice of support the way Bush the same ideological juice to support their activities through this distraction. By making sure Nicaraguan Communists got weapons from Iran with US taxpayer money, in the end it would supposedly make America come on top, the same way by making sure Americans originally believed the lie that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and thus, flushing our money down the drain with the support of top CEO bigwigs in our economy to "make the world safe for democracy." With weak diplomacy and overseas investments, the American economy was bound to get into a recession sooner or later. But, unlike Reagan, who totally fixed it so that his number 5 would get the blame(Oliver North) and not him, Bush just pressed away and faded out, thus making it safe to give Obama all the problems he is currently trying to solve.
Reagan and Bush had the religious right to back them up and expanding media conglomerates to convince the supposed uneducated masses that they were the big man in charge and that if you weren't okay with it, demonization and being called unpatriotic.L ike Reagan's Moral Majority's effect on the social climate of America, the values we stood behind we, as a country, were ready to trample on so long as the big man kept us scared shitless. Abortion, habeus corpus, Geneva Conventions, the Constitution, free election. We are currently experiencing what was literally leftover from the Bush administration.

His plans of cutting off overshore accounts has to do with stimulating gross national product within the nation, the key to making America independently economically successful again. By limiting CEO's indulgent behavior, he is preventing another recession from happening in the next 25 years.and, another great thing, delegating the transference of national gross product from oil to alternative resources, which is sorely needed, because it will produce jobs and it will make the grass greener, so to speak. By universalizing health care with public and private options, Obama is creating healthy economic competition in the long run because with options come picking who has the best for you, etc. So far, amidst all this, his only competition is weak mass media propaganda paid for by the beneficiaries of the status quo and their affiliates and lobbyists who are dependent on their last financial fixes from oil and coal.

Okay, President Obama has been President for over 5 months, and I just wish that people would give the guy a freaking break! I mean, he inherited the mess left behind by George W. Bush and is doing his best to sort and organize this mess. Being the first African American president, his stakes are raised higher because our society because he is an African American man in a job that has been formally occupied by white men.
Also, he is doing the best he can to fulfill his campaign promises. Anyone with common sense and a sense of how long it takes for political change to happen in this country by D.C. standards should know by now that it takes time for these changes to occur. The most we can do is continue to stay informed, sign the petitions, and show our support. Also, it is important to know that a goal was to bring back respectable bipartisanship. The GOP is up to their old tricks and using their mass media conglomerates( since conservative Republicans own, invest in, and are more than likely to sponsor what news comes out of the boob tube than ever before) to misinform and scare the living daylights out of us and the people who cannot think for themselves.
In light of these things, I would like to commend President Obama for lifting the gag rule, trying to establish a timetable for leaving Iraq, developing a strong diplomacy team, improving our responsibility to the environment, and busting his ass to fix and stimulate our economy. He's doing the best he can, and hasn't lost sight of his principles that we voted for last November. The political right has done a lot to combat such progress, leaving some conservative Republicans to think that the way he is stimulating the economy and steering money back into the US "fascist." All he is doing is what the economy needs right now, basic regulation. Because of de-regulation dating all the way back to Reagan( not considering however Clinton's 8 years of successful economic prosperity and expansion, more on him later) and amplified by George W., not to mention our money being flushed down the toilet of Iraq and tax cuts for the rich 1% and tax breaks for corporations, we are in the current state that we are in. Our real problem is not with Obama, it is with our idea that a President can magically fix everything all at once like a magician while we sit back and do nothing about it. It is a time to do something about it. Clinton didn't fix Bush I's leftovers in the first 6 months of his presidency, and no one judged him harshly for it, we should do the same for President Obama.
One more thing, I am sad that California upheld its ruling against the equal right for people to marry of the same gender. But, there is a movement growing that will sure give whoever is behind these rulings, legal and otherwise, a run for their money.

I do apologize to all my friends here because I have been busy with school, work, life, and getting Barack Obama elected I have been unable to frequent much of this board as often. But I do have to tell you something.
I can't believe the reality around me. I'm not addicted to illusion, but I cannot believe that after 8 years, democracy came back full and strong and the man i busted my ass to get in office GOT IN!!! OMG! I could not jumping up and down, screaming, shouting, smiling, crying, etc. Somebody pinch me! I partied for 3 hours with one of my friends and we couldn't help ourselves. Yesterday, because I didn't want to jinx anything( because the last election I got so wired that I fell into a two month depression after hearing about the returns) so I tried being oblivious to politics. I voted absentee, followed my own advice to combat voter suppression, and next thing I know my state is finally BLUE!!! AND BARACK OBAMA IS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best part about hearing this was the gratifying experience that I helped elect him. I blogged, I talked with people, I distributed campaign literature, I phonebanked, I volunteered and attended a debate, I voted in my first presidential election, and for the first time, I feel like a citizen of these great United States of America. It's a wonderful feeling. It really is. I lived history. I helped elect the first African-American president. I feel so good I want to cry! It's finally happened!
Today, in the spirit of President Obama, I did not gloat to my Republican friends. In the past couple elections, they have gloated, which prolonged the partisan bickering. But, no, I managed to successfully put aside my desire to gloat for the sake of the betterment of this country. It feels wonderful.
All this is starting to sink in, and I can say what I learned throughout this whole campaign is many. I am a believer in progress and equality, and I am proud to have racial consciousness.

I could not jumping up and down, screaming, shouting, smiling, crying, etc. Somebody pinch me! I partied for 3 hours with one of my friends and we couldn't help ourselves. Yesterday, because I didn't want to jinx anything( because the last election I got so wired that I fell into a two month depression after hearing about the returns) so I tried being oblivious to politics. I voted absentee, followed my own advice to combat voter suppression, and next thing I know my state is finally BLUE!!! AND BARACK OBAMA IS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best part about hearing this was the gratifying experience that I helped elect him. I blogged, I talked with people, I distributed campaign literature, I phonebanked, I volunteered and attended a debate, I voted in my first presidential election, and for the first time, I feel like a citizen of these great United States of America. It's a wonderful feeling. It really is. I lived history. I helped elect the first African-American president. I feel so good I want to cry! It's finally happened!
Today, in the spirit of President Obama, I did not gloat to my Republican friends. In the past couple elections, they have gloated, which prolonged the partisan bickering. But, no, I managed to successfully put aside my desire to gloat for the sake of the betterment of this country. It feels wonderful.
All this is starting to sink in, and I can say what I learned throughout this whole campaign is many. I am a believer in progress and equality, and I am proud to have racial consciousness.

Compared to the last 3, I didn't yell at the TV a lot, which is a feat from someone with my blood.
I can say that John McCain has some nerve equating criticisms of record to negative personal attacks filled with racial epitaphs and slurs. "I am proud of my rally audiences?!" I dropped my jaw so far I had to pick it up from the ground after getting on my hands and knees looking for it. I wouldn't be proud of a growing angry mob that trives on the silent condoning of racist statements.
I did expect that Obama would rise above and put the issues first, and he did, with the confrontation fueled by denial McCain was pulling, showed off so much respect and humility I couldn't help but feel proud.
But, I was even more proud of the "silent" star of the evening, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, who played her cards right and gave McCain the right advice for Obama to make himself look like the obvious choice for President and McCain stumble. And McCain was too smiley denial-y to know it.
In speaking of that, I hated the way he condescended to Barack Obama like a Southern plantation owner to a shoe shining slave in the 1840s and the slave could read! Please don't interpret that last sentence as a racial slur, it was meant to make a metaphorical connection to McCain. Obama is not stupid, so, stop talking about him and to him like he is. Outside of his excuses and falsities, he really was pathetic tonight. And, I say this with no overconfidence, Obama has the Presidency.

For those unaware of the past few weeks on the comedy circuit, and for those who are aware and want to laugh it up some more. I would like to break from serious talk and share with you the three Tina Fey as Sarah Palin SNL videos I found.
Recently, a McCain/Palin campaign official thinks that Tina Fey's spot-on impersonations of Sarah Palin are hurting the Republican chances of winning this election. It's obvious that the official has no sense of humor that doesn't involve racial epitaphs and mob building( if one finds that stuff humorous), and it's all so obvious that the campaign official isn't looking at the way McCain and Palin are playing the political game, either. What is SO obvious is that Tina Fey's comedic talents aren't the ONLY thing that is responsible for the slide in polls. Could it be the economy that you don't want to discuss anymore? Could it be the plans you say you have but actually will hurt America more than help it?
Sorry to kill the impending comedy, but I really couldn't help the fact that there is usually one serious paragraph in my posts.

I'm the communications director for the College Democrats of SDSU. San Diego State is a really purple school, because while it is a university, there are lots of students who come from very rich families in Los Angeles and elsewhere who are Neo-Conservative, so I take my job really seriously.

This has been an historic election already, a real push for social progress in this country. In the campaign alone, we have had an African American man successfully compete for the highest political office in the country, a woman successfully complete for the highest political office in the country, and a woman compete for the second highest political office in the country.
I've been recently asking myself, yet again, whether my feelings towards Sarah Palin can be interpreted as sexist. Outside of the baby eating rumor, I have made jokes to my friends about her sex life with her husband Todd. Of course, I always tell myself that it is policy before personal. On policy, Palin would pain America extremely.
I know in the past I have writtten posts that combat sexism towards Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi as well as other women on my political side of the spectrum. After all, I know how hard it is to be a woman in power and not afraid to be passionately assertive in the process. But, I can't imagine how hard it is to be a woman in power in a political party that hates you, like Sarah Palin.
I can say that the rumors I heard when she was announced VP upsetted me, and the fact that even in my humor, the thought that they could be interpreted as preferential sexism upsets me. I should know better.
But, it is a challenge, because Sarah Palin is far from pro-woman in regards to her politics. She doesn't believe in the free reproductive choice for women as I do. She doesn't believe that women are just as capable as a man in everything that doesn't require a penis. And, this is only the crust of the disagreements I have with this person, not to mention the fact that she was chosen by John McCain just to pander to women voters, especially those still upset about Clinton.
In my sociology class today, someone who is obviously a Republican (" I know I'd rather die than defend Hillary Clinton") said that Palin and McCain have been oppressed in this campaign too. That got me fired up because society favors the fact that they are rich and white, and with McCain, the fact that he is white,rich, and male. She was saying how Biden talked down to her during the VP debate as if she had no clue what she was saying, which, in credential perspective, she didn't. I don't consider my criticisms of her credentials to be sexist, because if she was a man, they would be the same. I can't simply take someone seriously politically when asked about what she feels her credentials about foreign policy are with the response : "I can see Russia from my house!" I can see the Cleveland Clinic from my dorm room, but that doesn't mean I'm qualified to be a doctor.
Now, part of me wonders whether if Palin is milking the dumb beauty pageant contestant to satisfy the expectations of what the Republican Party expects of its women. But, I know that Hillary Clinton wasn't milking her passion for the Presidency that led her to tears, so I guess I might have a double standard.
What do you think? I'd really appreciate some advice.

AS most of you read and some of you heard, the Republican Party is using what it has left now to try and win this election, the fear card. McCain and Palin want to milk that cow no matter how little America cares for it now. Of course, to the some Americans who do care and will only respond, vote, and live in the constant influx of fear the Bush Administration has been handing out and manipulating us towards for the past 8 years, without fear they aren't secure. Shame, because Americans shouldn't be afraid anymore or ever. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
We have done very bad things when we fall into fear's hands. In the late 40s and 50s, we blacklisted people we thought were Communists just because we were told to be afraid of Communists. Many innocent lives were stripped of their dignity during that time period. In the 60s and 70s, social innovators like Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Angela Davis, Jane Fonda, Dolores Huerta, the Chicago 7, and many more were wiretapped because people were told that the change they were bringing was bad. Many innocent lives were stripped of their dignity during that period in time too.
And, now, we have McCain and Palin playing the fear card similarly to that effect in the last months of this campaign for President, with talk of Obama's "terrorist connections" and his "pastor problems." In fact, at a rally the other day, they stood by and stood silent when people were shouting " Terrorist!" "Treason!" "Kill him!" and even told an African American cameraman to "sit down boy." Is this preparation for Bill O'Reilly's "lynching party" the right-wing is planning when and if Barack Obama is elected president?
Fear makes people ignorant of facts that challenge, rebut, and disengage fear. Palin may speak of Ayers and Wright, but here are facts and clarifications they are too ignorant and fear-based to consider:
1) Ayers, though identified as an American terrorist, was taken off the list in 1989.
2) Barack Obama was only eight when Ayers was identified as and did do terrorist actions to get his point across.
3) Ayers, now a college professor, words about what he did were taken out of context to scare the population into voting Republican and screwing this country over for 4 more years.
4) Barack Obama was distanced himself from Rev. Wright. Though a hard choice to make, the fact that he distanced himself is honorable on his part. Just because one's pastor is angry doesn't mean the congregation member is. That would be just like saying that just because when I was little and had a homophobic priest, that I must be homophobic too.
5)Rev. Wright is historically justified in his anger because America hasn't really been all that great to Americans of African descent in the past 228 years of our existence.
6) Compare: Jerry Falwell blaming gay Americans for 9/11 versus Rev. Wright blaming Americans for 9/11 in general and look particularly at the media covering those events. Do you see a double standard?
Take these points into serious consideration. Look at the way the Republican Party is manipulating these to create unpatriotic fear in American citizenry.

I can just picture her asking " how can we preserve our assets when someone we've been trying to repress success from climbs over our shoulders and achieves it? He needs to be put in his place, which is polishing my shoes at the Wasillia Mall."

A leader was born tonight, and delivered. Of course, Barack Obama has always been a good leader, but tonight he really shined. The way he addressed the town hall and Senator McCain showed great humility and compromise, and a willing to work.
McCain used every trick in his book, but they failed, at least to the Ohio voters who appeared "uncommitted." Ohio is officially a blue state, because we no longer want to get the blues from John McCain.
Also, why was there NO mention of Sarah Palin? McCain kept mentioning Lieberman, has he changed his mind?

Sorry, I'm not feeling the National Enquirer image coming from the other ticket. Calling Barack a terrorist? He's the one working hard in law school and streets of Chicago to help citizens and remember the other tickets pokes FUN of service to poverty. Amazing. The only terrorist I see in government, is the one who avoids their own criminal investigation and belonging to a church that drives people out of town and one that pushes for a pipeline and to pave the way, let all the animals around it, suffer and die. Environmental terrorist. Saying Barack has no military experience yesterday was another point that bites her tail off, she has absolutely no military experience either. At the convention, Michelle related the story about how Barack gripped the steering wheel of his car and he drove tentatively down the street, protecting his new little newborn daughter. He checked the review mirror frequently to catch a peek just to make sure things were fine.
I trust that Obama checked more than his review mirror on this economy strife and has checked the mirror frequently on other issues as well. I TRUST him fully. He did contact Bill Clinton and others in making his decisions, he keeps informed, and he maintains communication with who he needs to.

After this election, I would just like it if America changed one thing about our mentality about ourselves- the idea that race should no longer be a "hush-hush" issue that people live in denial about and suppress the first person to mention it in conversation, the topic of severity of dealing with how race affects our social behaviors and everything that grows from that root, and the notion that because we choose not to talk about it, it is okay and we have "progressed."
This is my first presidential election, and I'm glad to take part in this living history that has been taking place, and I am not dismissing one social ill from another when I say this, but, I'm glad Barack Obama running and with a high percentage chance of succeeding to get the Presidency that people are finally beginning to examine their own prejudices dealing with race, racism, and how issues affect race parlay into our everyday lives.
I can say personally that since Obama put his hat in the presidential ring that I've had to examine my beliefs and opinions about how progressive my values really are, and that through the fires that this election has put me through, I passed the test and feel better about my values. But, with every white person that tells me : "We've progressed, race doesn't have anything to do with this election" or something along that line, I am bothered at the denial of obvious reality, the blissfulness of being addicted to the illusion, and the fact that people are afraid of their own prejudices. Why do we find comfort in the illusions that lie to us and hurt others in the process?
I'm a white male, yes, but I have enough race consciousness to know we can do better in this country. That by accepting the realities we don't want to accept we can therefore use that as a springboard for great social change. I know I will be inheriting the previous generations' messes, but I also know that I will be inheriting the previous generatons' triumphs and progressions too. The truth of the matter is that we all suffer under the ills that plague our society, whether we like it or not, whether we want to admit it or not, and whether we like to accept it or not. I am speaking for myself here, and I just want to state that in case it looks like I'm patronizing people I do not mean to patronize. I may belong under many social categories that society doesn't particularly favor, but at the end of the day, the fact that I am conscious about the things that give me unearned privilege like the fact that I am white and male, then I can use that to bring to light several injustices and be taken seriously on the matter, even if it's undeserved attention.
Honestly, all social ills are the same, their only difference is who they are illed against. What makes the social ills equal is that the person and people maintaining the ill fall under the same mentality: " This person is different from me, that is wrong and they should be punished."
After this election, not only can we raise ourselves up from the ground regarding the issues that are being discussed, but we have a chance of beginning to raise ourselves up from the ground about the issues we don't discuss, and we can start by discussing them.

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher (whose hand
was caught in a gate while working with cattle), the doctor struck up a
conversation with the old man. Eventually, the topic got around to Sarah
Palin and her bid to to be a heartbeat away from being President.
The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Palin is sort of like a post turtle."
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle
was. The old rancher said, "Well, when you're driving down a country road
and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a
post turtle."
The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to
explain. "Well, you know she didn't get up there by herself, she doesn't
belong up there, she doesn't know what to do now that she is up there, and
you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with."

Sarah has tried to seduce voters into her ticket by throwing her vernacular euphomisms ( "darn it!") annd hockey and soccer moms, but, from someone who has been there, I feel like I am being talked down to and I know that as an Ohio voter, I am not stupid. Ohio voters might do stupid things sometimes, like the past 2 elections, but we are not stupid. Stop feeding these populist lies Palin, it doesn't work.
You talk soccer moms and Main Street when you live on a mansion on a hill looking down on what was once a peasant community. You talk respect of women's right when you sold your ovaries to the state and to G-d with your victim-pays rape kits, your disrespect of the right to privacy and Roe v. Wade and I could go on.
Sure, you have been in VP for the past 5 weeks, but how can you say you believe in global warming when you said you didn't just the other day? How can you promise change when you are funded by the status quo. The McCain-Palin campaign management, at least financially is run by oil company lobbyists. You talk energy independence when you are funded by people who expect dependence for 100 more years. You dismiss a reasonable, pragmatic call to withdrawal our troops from Iraq and let Iraq become Iraq, because we can't surrender now. Wait until your son comes back in a body bag and if alive, wait until he develops PSTD. You talk working class when you only care about that 1% you belong to. You have scripted substance, but that's it. You still can't answer the questions.

In regards to the "No" vote on the bailout, I have to side with Congress on this one because Bush's plan was only a bandaid. Would you put a bandaid over a failing kidney, or would you rather prefer a surgeon go in there and do their very best to fix it?
The bandaid is Bush's bailout. The surgeons are Congress who are skeptical and doing their job right. Now, if only we had a leader who is willing to work and get his hands dirty for the American people. Thank G-d for early voting. And it's a horrible shame that the economy had to sink so low to get people to wake up.
