Convince Me!

Why should I be a Democrat?

I'm switching

I posted here a couple of days ago, asking people on this site (presumably Democrats) to tell me why I (as a Republican) should switch. I got some very good responses, some canned, some obviously well thought out and very personal.

Well, you've convinced me. I'm going to re-register as a Democrat for the next election. Thanks for your responses!

One additional note: I intended to post on the RNC board as well, asking if they could give me any reasons to remain a Republican. But after two weeks of trying, and several (unanswered) emails to their support "team" (who appears to have departed for greener pastures herself), I've been unsuccessful in getting their site to work.

I think that about says it all.... :)

Why should I switch?

I'm a lifelong Republican. I believe in small government, low taxes, and telling people (and the government) to mind their own damn business, not mine.

However, after the last eight years, I'm not convinced. Suddenly we have bigger government, more debt (which will almost surely be followed by more taxes) and the government is coming after all of us with every intrusive tool except a proctoscope (and that may be on the drawing board.)

So, this is your big chance to convince me - is it time to switch? Give me a reason.

Not an "against" reason, like "Republicans are all evil white people and they're all fascists and they just want to play golf and club baby seals while they watch black people pick cotton AIEEEEEEEE I can't stand it!"

I'm talking about a "for" reason. Something that makes sense. Give it at least a try. Come on. You can do it. :)
