Governor Dean is the major reason why the Democrats did so well in the 2006 elections. Governor Dean implemented a strategy that I suggested in 1994. The Democrats can not win a majority in Congress with a limited strategy, we have to have an American strategy. We might not be able to compete in every district but we can and must compete in every state. Many Republicans are still in office because they were never challenged effectively. Before Governor Dean took the helms of the DNC many of us were disappointed with the leadership. They were afraid to compete, they wanted to be and ran as Republican lite and they lost. When Democrats as well as Republicans and pundits say that Democrats ran as conservatives you should be able to explain to them that you can not be more conservative than George Allen, Curt Weldon, Conrad Bain and Rick Santorum just to name a few. No, the Democrats did not win because they ran as conservatives they won because they ran as Democrats. To my dismay, I have not heard a Democratic Strategist on television articulate this point so far. This tells us that more changes are still needed in the DNC. Period
