Arlen Specter has decided to leave the Republican Party. He is now a democrat. We now have a filibuster proof Senate.

You know as I watch the president in Europe this week and the protests, I have to smirk because when the United States Economy was booming and everyone was prospering, no one said a word about the recklessness even though we knew it was there. But the world benefited from our excess, our risk taking and our greed. Now that the chickens have come home to roost, those that are not the visionaries or risk takers want to be outraged.

In a capitalistic society everyone has to be willing to take the ups and the downs. Prosperity does not happen without risk. It is what it is!
Saturday I braved 20 degree weather for 5 hours for a chance to the President Elect Obama and Vice President Elect Biden. I was like a little kid and while it was cold, I could not even feel it. The adrinaline was flowing.

First, I could not find anyone to go with me. Then I had a set of friends who were going to meet me but I never located them, so I was alone. Well a coupld of ladies I did not know adopted me. We had the best time.

We waited in like forever to get into the War Memorial Plaza in Baltimore. We were all excited. Excited about the history we were making. We were excited about being liberated from the neo-conservative movement and we were excited about our roles in taking our government back!

We sang, we jumped up and down, we laughed we cried and we did not want it to end. It was one of the greatest days in my life. It is truly ranking at the top.

There was a woman whose family had driven her 8 hours to see this. She was 78 years old. I let her in front of me because she was tiny and she could see better if she got closer to the barricade. She came all the way from Cincinnati Ohio. Miss Mary was her name and she was smiling from ear to ear. She said she was so proud of him and she never thought she would live to see the day!

I had a unique view. I could see motorcades pull up and I could see the podium where Obama would speak. Each time I would see a black car and limos pull up I would jump up and down screaming "he's here!, he's here!" and the nice police officer standing near me would roll his eyes and shake his head "NO". I think the police were getting a kick out of us old broads acting like teenagers! I even kept asking my new found companions, "is it 4:00 yet?". It became a joke among the women around me. When 4:00 came, like the true child I had turned into, I began jumping up and down screaming "it's 4:00, it's 4:00".

Now mind you I am a middle aged grandmother, I have a bad back and ankles but you would not have thought it the way I was acting. And I swear I never got cold. When his motorcade pulled up, I started screaming again "it's him, he's here". I got the nod of affirmation from our friendly police officer and like the young girls waiting for the arrival of the Beetles several years before, tears flows like a river from my eyes. I could not beleive I was seeing him and I was so full of pride and excitement and hope for the future. The girl in front of me turned around with tears flowing from her eyes she says "hold me". We were pathetic. You would have thought he was a rock star instead of the next leader of the free world.

Both Obama and Biden have a swagger when they walk that excudes confidence and power. You simply feel like you are in good hands now. We have two people in charge that truly get us. I am more hopeful now than ever. And when the President Elect was speaking a woman from the crowd yells out "WE LOVE YOU"! He stopped, smiled and said, "I love you too". It was a great day and a great feeling!

I am so excited about being so close to the dristrict so that I can participate in this leg of history. The new first family has expressed that they want to really become part of the community and I for one will be there every step of the way!

As an African American, I simply cannot put into words the way I need to express the energy and excitement here. The week began with one man performing a mircle on the Hudson River and we will wittness another on Tuesday for I never thought I would see a man of color become president. As an American, this is a great time for all of us. We should all be bursting with pride!

Sarah Palin's unwillingness to recognize her own short comings and those of her party are exactly what is wrong with America as a collective.  She is has no vision, no new ideas and earnestly believes that staying on the same course of discourse is the right thing to do. And unfortunately the mainstream media keeps giving this shallow individual air time.

Corporate America today does not have any vision, no new ideas and that is why we are in the mess we are in.  When you work in Corporate America, you know that often times new ideas are immediately squashed, so we stay on the same unoriginal paths.  That is why our economy is going down the tubes.  No innovation and no desire to do something bold and orginal on the parts of our financial institutions.

This is a funny article about what Obama was thinking about the stupid debate questions:

We all need to write Senators to voice our displeasure of Joe Lieberman. Kick him out of the caucus.

You know I love white Americans. I really love all people. But for the same of writing affect, today I am specifying my white brothers and sisters.

You know through out the darkest moments of the history of this country there have always been white Americans who stood up to say NO MAS! When land was torn from Native Americans, when Africans were enslaved, when Asians Americans were internment camps and during the civil rights movement. There were always white folks who stood up and said NO MAS!

You know often times black folks say to one another, "this is not for us" or "that ain't for you". When we here this said to us by another black person, we always know what that means. But today no one can say that about anything anymore ever!

Yesterday millions of white folks voted to bring about change and they did not care what the color of the persons skin. They looked at the content of his character. Rose Kennedy, your boys did not die in vain nor any of those who died to be liberty and justice to all.

I just want to say thank you and we are all one people.

Nate Silver at 538.com is great. He was dead on.

Why I like being black.  I like being black because as I read the doubts of some and listen to the pundits who resist the change that is coming.  I know what hope is from the very depths of my soul to the very tips of my fingers.  And it is that knowledge and that hope that makes me tough.  As I look back over the history of my people I am proud and disappointed all in one.  But most of all I never doubt the resolve of my people once they put their minds to achieve.

You see being a minority in the United States of America is a blessing.  Often people like to think of it as a curse or a punishment but I think of it as a blessing because when we achieve great things we have done so against all odds.  We have succeeded through hard work and sacrifice.  We learn very early to take nothing for granted because when you do, you fail.  We are made tough and when we fail, that failure is not the ultimate defeat, it is the fuel to future triumph.

If Barack Obama is not president on November 5th, we still win.  Because today there is a little Jewish boy is dreaming of becoming president, there is a Muslim girl dreaming, a black child dreaming, and a disabled child dreaming.  Because of Barack Obama the dreams of all the children of this great nation have just become a little larger and a little more attainable.  We have been reminded this year that through hard work, a plan and our faith, we can achieve anything that we put our minds to.  We do not have to accept the limitations of our environment, the culture divide in our country, nor listen to the naysayers.

For those that thought this country would be forever divided culturally, we now see that we are one step closer to being a stronger union.  All it takes is someone with vision and the strength to fight the forces that keeps us from coming together to be the best that we can be.  All it takes is someone to stand strong and do what we all know is right.  All it takes is one person to stand up and say, enough is enough.

What is truly great about living in America is that all things are possible here and I know that one person on this earth cannot change the world alone, but I know that my people have gone from shackles to being formidable leaders in the United States of America within a relatively short amount of time given world history.  I have great faith in the goodness of all in this country because no man is island.

I vote for Barack Obama because he chooses to remind us of our inherent goodness as people and citizens.  He chooses not to focus on the negative nor take advantage of the cultural leeriness that lingers in our politics.  He is strong.  He respects us all.  Respect is what has been lost in our political landscape.  He has restored a sense of pride in all people but especially those of us of color.

Yes We Can!

I just read a post regarding CNN moving AR and LA to lean McCain. 538.com never had them in our column. 538.com is a site that was more accurate during the primaries than CNN and MSNBC. I don't think those two states were ever in our column.

No matter what happens in the election, the Democratic leadership must remove Joe Lieberman from high level positions. He is a
fistula on the party!
We may loose again this year due to voter suppression. The Republicans in charge of swing States are trying hard to suppress the vote. It is very sad and still people will identify with that party. There are more registered Democrats in this country than there are Republicans, if we all turn out to vote, they can't win!

Below is a copy of the letter I sent to Morning Joe today. I simply could not take anymore of his complaining about Obama.

Joe,

You can be a pompous ass. The problem with Palin is not that she has new clothes, as a woman; yes, I would have to purchase new clothes to run for vice-president in order that I may be photographed daily. The problem with Palin and the Republican brand is that they called Obama an elitist. There is nothing more elite than $150,000 for clothes, $22,000 for a stylist.

And frankly, Palin is attractive enough and stylish enough on her own that she did not need it. She is a former beauty queen, she knows how to put on make-up and put herself together. Further, she could go without make-up and be just fine, that is how attractive she is.

With that said, from September 1st to November 4th, there were 67 days. Had the RNC spent a reasonable amount of money for a suit for each day, say $300.00. For men, that would be cheap, for a woman, even at Saks, you could get a nice suit for $300.00, lets just go up to $500 so that we include accessories because we women must accessorize. At $500 an outfit, the cost would have been $33,500. That I could see. $150,000 is excessive, but it is RNC money so be it.

You can no longer call Obama who buys off the rack at Nordstrom an elitist. In addition, his wife shops at Target. They were asked these questions during the primary and I believe it was on Hardball....pull the tape. Stop with the assertions that Obama has tailor made suits.

Finally, you know as well as I know that Obama cannot fly commercial. Because of the violent nature of political campaigns in this country, it would be a nightmare for the Secret Service. It is not Obama's fault that once he became a candidate for president, he immediately became a target and it was in large part because of the color of his skin. He had Secret Service protection much sooner than anyone ever in political campaigning history. This is horrible part of American history.

The Republican Party sir has a myriad of double standards and they often sit in judgment of others trying to be the moral compass while committing atrocities themselves. I have tried to watch your show in the morning because I like your co-host and I love Harold Ford Jr. But you are annoying!

You need to get real with your reporting while you are whining about Obama. Moreover, it is the American people that get to decide that Obama is fit to lead, not you thank God! With that said, we will decide if Palin is fit to be a heartbeat away from President and hopefully they will see that she was thrown into a situation before she was ready. Period.
Saturday I went to Election Judge Training. I found out that on election day I need to show up at the polls at 5:45 a.m. and we will not go home until 10:00. So I will be tired but I thought this is the one way I can protect at least one precinct of voter fraud. I will have the Obama campaign on speed dial.

I have also decided to resort to serious prayer. I am so worried that Democrats might not show up to vote because they are listening to the news and that we are sooooooo far ahead. I am saying that tongue and cheek.

If we don't win this year, I am going to leave. I simply cannot live under Republican lies any longer.

PHILLY.COM ENDORSES OBAMA.  Please read their words.  It is well written.

Barack Obama for President PEOPLE KEEP SAYING this is an historic election, the most important in half a century. And it is.

In concrete terms, the United States is faced with a range of crises - economic, military, diplomatic - that are increasingly complex, that defy ideology and demand an uncommon, united effort. Failure to address them in the past has put the well-being of our children and our planet in doubt. Failure to address them now will, we fear, seal their doom.

But history also includes things that are less prosaic, more poetic: We could be on the verge of picking a president who symbolizes what our country stands for. Opportunity. Equality. Leadership. And big ideas. In the process, we as a country may be becoming the change we want to see.

That's why we endorse Barack Obama.

At this point, maybe no one has the solutions to the country's problems, but Barack Obama has the best chance, by far, of finding them.

He is big enough for the moment.

As he has throughout his career as a community organizer, a law student, a state legislator and a U.S. senator, he will apply an intellectually rigorous approach to making decisions, crafting policy and bringing people together.

But it is his core temperament - and the movement that he has built, and that has been built around him - that will allow him to lead Americans into a challenging future with confidence.

In fact, Barack Obama is about everything our recent history has not been - and which the campaign of Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin have no chance of becoming. Obama offers a clean break with "us vs. them" and "you're on your own" mentality. Instead, he presents the hope - and challenge - to be a country in which "we're all in this together."

No one can question John McCain's long service to this country, as a soldier and a senator. But on one big thing, he is wrong: Americans are not so much angry, as he keeps on saying, as they are worried, and afraid. With each new economic shock, they are in danger of losing not only their homes and their jobs and their health, but also their spirit of optimism.

They are worried, too, about the distrust and disappointment with which the world greets United States foreign policy, and the consequences of forsaking our ideals - rationalizing torture and ignoring constitutional safeguards of civil rights.

Long before 9/11, but intensely afterward, they longed to answer a call to join in a common purpose, to ask what they could do for their country - and to receive answers that are worthy of them.

When he met Obama on the campaign trail in Ohio, the now-famous Joe the Plumber illustrated how inadequate those answers have been. Joe was concerned only with the remote possibility that some day he might have to pay somewhat more in taxes, failing to see the benefits of policies in which the overwhelming majority of Americans would share in gains from new technology, new approaches to providing health care - not to mention basic fairness.

Tellingly, Obama's response was seized on by McCain and Palin as "socialist." Obama had said, "I just want to make sure that everyone who is behind you has got a chance to succeed too. I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

Perhaps only someone who owns seven houses would worry about sharing a fair amount of the wealth that America helped him gain. Making sure everyone has a chance at success ought to be what America is all about. But isn't now.

People - most recently Colin Powell - keep saying that Barack Obama is a transformational figure. And he is.

In concrete terms, this means that he has, in his own words, "shown up" to campaign in areas in which there was little support for him initially. The electoral map reflects the result.

By embracing the use of new technology, the Obama campaign has invited millions of Americans to be a part of the movement for change. His fundraising strategy has transformed campaign financing, attracting a mind-boggling 3.1 million individual donors giving an average of $86. No one can know how this change will affect future elections, but the breadth of participation has loosened the hold that lobbyists and big fundraisers have had on past campaigns. It has promoted a "buy-in" by ordinary citizens. And that's only in money. Thousands of Americans also have enlisted as volunteers for Obama, many of them becoming politically involved for the first time in their lives.

Joe Biden was wrong, too. When campaigning against Obama in the primary, Biden said the presidency didn't lend itself to "on the job training." The fact is, there is no "experience" that fully prepares a person to be president.

But there are ways in which a true leader motivates people to take the risks for change, to make the sacrifices that are needed, to look beyond divisions of race and religion - and to meet well-founded fear with resolve. By the campaign he has run and the policies he has proposed, Obama has begun being that leader even before he was elected, even before he takes the oath of office.

The McCain campaign tried mightily to make this a "big election about small things," but Obama succeeded in making it about the biggest thing of all: America's future.

Not long ago, he began reassuring Americans that we will rise to the moment. "We can restore our economy and the fundamental belief that in America, our destiny is not written by us but for us," he said.

On Nov. 4, Americans can begin to write that destiny. *

It is definitely an uphill climb for Barack in Scranton, P.A. The article listed below has a democrat saying she trusts McCain more than Obama. Obama she has radical views. She voted for Hillary Clinton. The irony is that Hillary and Barack only differed on Healthcare reform. So what is she really afraid of?

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20081024_Looking_for_election_clues_in_Scranton.html
D.L. Hugley is hysterical. He went to a Palin rally. If you watch the reaction to him of some of the people he interviewed, you definitely see the cultural divide. It reaffirms that the Republican base believes that you must be white and Christian to be President.

Now I am a devout Christian. But I don't believe my President has to be one. What is going on in America today. Why is there a religious test?

Woman admits making up attack linked to McCain sticker, police

(CNN) -- A woman who told police she was assaulted by a man angered about a John McCain bumper sticker on her car admitted she made up the report, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, assistant police chief said Friday.

Police said the woman admitted making up the report she was attacked because of a John McCain sticker on her car.

Police said the woman admitted making up the report she was attacked because of a John McCain sticker on her car.

The 20-year-old from Texas told investigators a man approached her Wednesday night at an ATM in Pittsburgh's East End, put a blade to her neck and demanded money, Pittsburgh Police Department public information officer Diane Richard said.

She said she gave him $60 and stepped away from him, Richard said.

She further said the man "punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground, and he continued to punch and kick her while threatening to teach her a lesson for being a McCain supporter," according to a police statement.

The woman also told police her attacker "called her a lot of names and stated that 'You are going to be a Barack supporter,' at which time she states he sat on her chest, pinning both her hands down with his knees, and scratched into her face a backward letter 'B' on the right side of her face using what she believed to be a very dull knife."

At the time, Richard said, "We, the police, cannot substantiate this yet. This is what she told police."

Don't Miss WTAE: Police say woman faked political attack

The woman refused medical attention, Richard said, although she told the investigating officer she would see a doctor Thursday.

Richard said the woman described her alleged attacker as an African-American, 6 feet 4 inches tall with a medium build and short dark hair, wearing dark clothing and shiny shoes.

Before the revelation that the report was false, McCain spokeswoman Jill Hazelbaker said that McCain and running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin "spoke to the victim and her family after learning about the incident."

The Obama campaign also had issued a statement wishing the woman a "speedy recovery."

Would someone please tell the Senator it is okay to purhcase a new pair of shoes? Now this is a guy working hard for all of us.
