As a woman and a lot of women know the benefits of a mud facial mask, and that mud is benifical for clay pottery and other creative art tasks as well as historical building in Egypt and the world. However throwing mud on a person not deserving of such behavior is wrong. Christ used the dirt from the ground after spitting on it to heal a blind man. This positive mud demonstration gave vision. But the nasty mud slinging by some fanantic right wingers does not give vision or heal. All across America at numerous colleges in the late 60’s and early 70’s protests and civil unrest were the mark of the day because of the giref students felt including myself because of the painful experience much like today of a friend, class-mate or family member coming home from Viet Namn in body bags. Once again God has honored me to participate and witness a historical milestone. Some years ago history locally was made when Coleman A. Young was elected the first minority Mayor of a major metropolitan urban city. From day one the right wingers started throwing the mud. Remember sitting as an invited guest lunchein attendee at the Detroit Economic Club listening to the address by Mayor Young and Auto giant mover and shaker Henry Ford II speak of their alliance and plans to work together to keep the city buzzing and prospering during tough times. Also recall the “awakening” for the city when I served as juror for the trial of Mayor Young’s brother-in-law, accused of City Of Detroit pension monies. The case was profound in that it highlights the challenge minority politicans face in character assault as well as their families. When asked to decide a verdict on the merits of the evidence of the case presented to us, I reminded everyone we were there to serve in truth and that I wanted to go home as most people do when deliberating a verdict. At first some were upset with me as I told them I was sorry my vote was going to be not guilty. Even though our group was composed of professionals, educators, clergy etc. there were a few people not working due to hard times. My reasons to everyone was that the judge instructed us to give a verdict guilty or not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt based on the evidence presented to us. There was no evidence. Mayor Young’s brother-in-law was a victim of guilty by association via a politican brother-in-law whom the right wing wanted to roast and take down. My remarks to everyone also asked them to consider the fact that we were intelligent people and everything presented to us was hear say with nothing material to back it up. Asked everyone had they every been to any important board or club meeting where there was someone to at least record the minutes of the meeting? The accusors had no such docuements or anything else. We the jurors finally decided to agree to a verdict of not guilty. The five knocks on the juror door then guided us to the court room and the judge thanked us for our service. Then the judge said two jurors could now leave as they were alternative jurors. I was one of the two, she thanked us both, and we left the court room. So in conclusion the mud name calling is simply the work of small minds. What is a TERRIOST? Someone whose actions speak louder then words. There was a Church in Alabama that was bombed and four little girls died upon just simply attending Sunday School, this is the actions of a terrist. Many people including myself in this nation are the recipients of an awesome inheritance regarding dream manifestations. Coming from a middle class family background of working late parents, they often demonstrated their faith and belief in the dream to me and my two sisters. Raised in love and responsibility by parents and family and community the American dream was accepted and respected. There was no Latch-Key Program after school to assist working parents. There was only the after school program of Bible School. Remember our Irish Catholic Principle once everyone was seated in the school auditorium asking everyone to stand and place their hand across their heart to recite the Pledge to the flag. The words at the time were, in God and the invisible for which it stands etc. Then our Principle would ask us to take our seats and she would proceed to the piano and lead us in several songs. The songs were basically along the same positive themes of the times. The words were something like this, oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day, everything is coming up roses, everything going my way. The student body was then turned over to teachers for Bible Class stories. Many students stayed after school for this program via choice. Parents often gave extra money or extra snacks to their kids so they have something to eat before going to this after school program. My school and many public schools in the state during that era produced excellent SAT scores. There were no shootings or student violence other then your occasional fist fight caused via the local bully. So where am I going with this? You no doubt can relate to such a parental and community upbringing in values and morality, but where are we going in the future with the profound legacy given to us? The middle class is slipping away as the struggling poor with little or no concern from the wealthy and the government. We as most were taught to earn and pay our share of the pot. But we were also taught to share with those who could not or were faced with an emergency or crisis. It is the working poor and the middle class who have made this country great! Reflections of memories were stirred to the fore-front of my thinking this week as I listened to political rants coming from the media and Washington. How so? My late parents were not illiterate people, their early childhood was from the family farms. Both my parents always retained that American humility and a grateful attitude to be Americans. My parents were sent to the Midwest to live with other relatives to continue their education. When my parents spoke to you or my grandparents they always displayed humility in not speaking down to you, as they felt that ten dollar words were not always needed to express a two dollar point of view or life lesson. In order for you to understand a simple point of view they often brought up the farm as lesson discourses. When my parents were teaching my sisters and I the value of being a lady and selecting female friends of similar character, they would say things like, “you can’t take a pig’s ear and use the skin to make a fine silk purse.” Or Once a horse has escaped the barn it is to late to lock the doors etc. My parents never said things like this to be insulting or mean. When they were insulting you would know it but this too was did with humility as they often said, its not what you do, but how you do it, there is a way to do everything with some grace and humility if not just shut up. Obama was raised by his elders and other family members and there was nothing wrong with their teachings! Sorry I am not brain washable. The only reason for my choice of president is character and desire to serve all those who elected them, not gender. Gender has nothing to do with character. Joe lost his wife in a car accident and without reservation was willing to put his family first and walk away from politics. He openly stated this and it was confirmed by one of his children not killed in the accident. This is humility and great love of others and less for one’s own career aspirations. To be a real parent first is key to turning America around. Complimenting Hillary is another example of humility. My parents were told early I would never be able to safely have children of my own. There was no sex education in those days. However even though my values are old school they were passed down to my siblings. Yes the doctors were right the first time. My soul wanted to come back and clinical death was short lived, no brain damage but loss my two twin children. My husband believed God let me return for a reason. Went on to have more three children two grandchildren. My late husband was right in that the children needed me to finish raising them when he died. He did not get the chance to give the oldest away at her wedding. My late father gave his first born grand-daughter away. It is a priority to be the best possible parent you can first and place everything else second if you can? When you pregnant and your water breaks as a woman who cares About the life you are carrying within you yet you do not wait to seek immediate medical assistance when until you have finished making a political speech, or not take the time to council your teen-age five month pregnant daughter on the birds and bees? Even the best of parents are not immune to teen-age surprises and issues but you at least make the effort first to be there for them before the horse gets out the barn? Smile! I like many women choose life despite the threat to my life. And Appreciate having the right of choice. Cannot understand any woman not valuing the baby even though you have been told the birth of the child would present issues for a life-time, so why would you add to these odds with more possible health issues by not seeking immediate help? President Lincoln had the weight of the country on his shoulders, including the frequent bouts of depression of his wife, due to the loss of a child, but that did not stop him from preventing the separation of the union of the north and south due to tough economic trade issues, which were the import of the most valuable resource to the USA, Ivory and slaves. The Ivory was the most important source of revenue as the popular source of entertainment in that day was the piano and ivory was needed to make the Ivory keyboard. Lincoln was faced with the cold fact that he could not compensate everyone and accepted not all the states in ratification to end slavery. Lincoln allowed choice to the states on the slavery issue, because the most important issue stated by him was the economic survival of the USA.
