I went downstairs just to say hello to some of the people on the Joint Staff who used to work for me, and one of the generals called me in. He said, "Sir, you’ve got to come in and talk to me a second." I said, "Well, you’re too busy." He said, "No, no." He says, "We’ve made the decision we’re going to war with Iraq." This was on or about the 20th of September. I said, "We’re going to war with Iraq? Why?" He said, "I don’t know." He said, "I guess they don’t know what else to do." So I said, "Well, did they find some information connecting Saddam to al-Qaeda?" He said, "No, no." He says, "There’s nothing new that way. They just made the decision to go to war with Iraq." He said, "I guess it’s like we don’t know what to do about terrorists, but we’ve got a good military and we can take down governments." And he said, "I guess if the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem has to look like a nail." So I came back to see him a few weeks later, and by that time we were bombing in Afghanistan. I said, "Are we still going to war with Iraq?" And he said, "Oh, it’s worse than that." He reached over on his desk. He picked up a piece of paper. And he said, "I just got this down from upstairs" -- meaning the Secretary of Defense’s office -- "today." And he said, "This is a memo that describes how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran." Wes Clark Is this administration still on plan to take out 6 more countries, and is Iran next? All signs point to yes. After several months of cries from former commanders with impeccable military records--Generals like Paul Eaton, John Batiste, Wes Clark and even current top man in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus-- pleading for this President to seek a diplomatic solution not only for Iran, but also in Iraq, Bush finally decided to hold what can only be described as token meetings with Iran. Did this really fool anyone? Now they can say, "We TRIED to talk to Iran." Forget that for months this administration has been using the same saber-rattling techniques and making the same comments as they did leading up to the war in Iraq--with Vice President Dick Cheney making comments like this in his West Point commencement address:

I would like to humbly apologize for the inappropriate remark made from my account earlier today.

I have found that the remark was made by my son in his effort to be funny not knowing that it was being publicly aired. I would like to apologize to everyone, but I would especially like to apologize to Senator Edwards for that remark. Even though it was not me it was made by my son and from my computer and is my responsibility.

That's the question with me right now. The only current candidate I would consider voting for is Obama. Even though I do not believe he is ready and the more I learn about him the less I like him. If someone doesn't step up I doubt I will vote at all. I don't want to feelresponsible. The only other candidate I would vote for is Biden and he can't win. I am not really a democrat. I am a libertarian who votes democrat by default.

I firmly believe that General Clark is the only hope that this nation has to save us from the destruction this country has suffered under the current administration. I believe that no one else has a plan or a clue as how to save this nation.

We don't need a politician we need a Great American! Someone who understands national security and the military. Someone who understands not only the price of war but understands what the result of war is going to do to the people living in the war zone. Someone who realizes that no one really wins a war.

If this administration has it’s way, I believe it is.  In my opinion, I think that the president believes that if he attacks Iran it will change history’s view of his administration. He believes that this will put his administration in a
more positive historical position. He is already making the same comments about the possibility of  war with Iran that he made about the possibilities of war with Iraq.

This would be a tragedy. Although, intelligence agency’s have announced that there has been Iranian involvement in the war in Iraq.  The same intelligence agencies offered reports stating that Iraq had nuclear capabilities that it did not have. They stated that Iraq had large numbers of other w.m.d.’s that they did not have.

I believe that weapons and supplies have been flowing to Shia forces from Iran. I don’t believe that they have the evidence that they are coming from the Iranian central government. They could be supplied by a single general. Even if they are that doesn’t mean that we should go to war with Iran. I believe that we should remove soldiers from Baghdad where they are serving as targets. Baghdad should be handled by the Iraqi’s with aid from U.S. training support and U.S. Command and control support, but not with U.S. combat troops. Our combat troops should be deployed to combat Al-Qaeda forces elsewhere in the country and along the Syrian and Iranian borders to combat aid from outside governments.

In Vietnam and Korea the Soviet Union supported both communist governments. We did not go to war with the soviet Union. Instead, we acted through diplomatic channels through our embassies in the Soviet Union as well as through intermediaries. Eventually the Soviet Union fell and now Russia and the other countries of the Soviet Union are no great threat to us. If instead of acting diplomatically we had went to war with the Soviet’s, at a minimum hundreds of thousands of Americans would have died in that war.

Now, I don’t believe that Iran is the Soviet Union. The fact is we have no embassy in that country. You have to talk to everybody. In the history of this nation, dozen’s of wars have been prevented through sitting down and talking with our enemies. I
don’t believe the military option should be taken of the table, but that should be a last resort not a first resort. Any military option with Iran should be well down the road.

If we do go to war with Iran what do you think will happen? Will we win that war? Well we will certainly defeat the Iranian army, but then what? We will most likely have another Middle Eastern country in chaos. Do we need another situation like Iraq. This would probably spark more conflict in the region. So then what do we do? Go to war with yet another Middle Eastern Nation? How much further should we go and how many more Americans do we need to have killed and how many more Arab civilians should die. Would we make American’s safer? Right now Iraq is a recruiting poster for Al-Qaeda to recruit more young Muslims. Which is only going to make this world more dangerous forAmericans.

We should not go to war without exploring all other options. We are going to always have enemies in this world. We are always going to have other enemies supporting them behind the scenes. If we attacked everyone who wished us harm, we would be involved in World War III. You have to weigh the evil against us with the evil that would result from our actions.

We Need A Great American!

In a time when the quagmire in  Iraq continues to go down hill, President Bush has no apparent solution. The continuing secular violence is raising the danger level.King Abdulla of Saudi Arabia (a Sunni nation) has told vp Cheney thatunless something was done to stop the shia on Sunni violence, that Saudi Arabia may have to become involved in the war. If this were to
happen it would most certainly provoke intervention by Iran and this
would most likely bring other nations into a growing war involving the
entire middle east.

With this being a strong possibility of the condition of the middle
east when the next U.S President takes office what would you rather
have a President that is a career politician or would you rather have a
truly great American.  A man who is an expert in national
security, a man who understands the middle east a man that is a Rhodes
scholar and understands the meaning of the word honor. Would you rather
have another man who avoided his responsibility to this nation during a
time of war, or would you rather have a man who received the purple
heart for wounds received in the process of defending this great nation.

I hope that everyone who reads this will write and urge this man to run
for president. We don’t need another politician we need a
great American.

This is the basis of which our freedom is based. That when a leader goes directly against the will of the people, it is not only the peoples right but their responsibility to challenge there leader and attempt to sway the leader back to the will of the people. In this case not only is the president disregarding the will of the people, but he is blatantly disregarding the council of the majority of his commanders. He is putting the lives of brave young men and women in danger with out engaging all of the principals in attempts at a diplomatic solution. I served this country in the U.S. Navy and if I were there watching my friends die in an unjust war, I would hope that the people at home would be raising all manner of hell for him to end that war.

Our Forefathers did not intend for the president to disregard the voice of the people. They did however, expect the citizens of the country to call him on it when he does. So when I see my brothers dying for an unjust cause I will sing to the rooftops at the top of my lungs for change.
This might not be relevant to the topics on this site, but I was asked this by someone who read my blog imported to another site. Is George W. Bush a worse president than L.B.J. and here is my response.

L.B.J. didn't start Vietnam. He didn't provide no bid contracts to companies that his friends and family had worked for, advised and profited from. In the case of Halliburton his vice president use to be C.E.O.

He didn't use signing statements to by-pass the law enabling him to torture prisoners, to bug your phone calls, open your mail and illegally hold foreign citizens prisoners with out a means to prove there innocence for 4 years based solely on the evidence that a persons mortal enemy said he did it.

L.B.J. didn�t open our borders and allow non-citizen criminals to enter and remain in the country. I don�t mean criminal because the were here illegally, I mean criminals who have been arrested in the U.S. for burglary, assault, grand theft auto, robbery and sexual assault among a few. He didn�t want to grant amnesty to illegal aliens with out knowing there background or foreign criminal record. He didn�t try to allow these criminals and other aliens to draw social security benefits after just putting 18 months of employment in when it takes American citizens 10 years to become eligible.

L.B.J. didn�t give tax cuts to the rich while racking up over $4 trillion in debt.

L.B.J. was one of the worst presidents in this century. Bush is the worst president this century and arguably the worst president in U.S. history.

Now is the time! With Barak Obama announcing his plans to launch an exploratory committee yesterday and Hillary Clinton holding a press conference today, at which I believe she will announce, General Clark needs to go soon to prevent the two of them from getting to far out in the lead.

To quote myself. The hardest part of the election for General Clark is winning the Democratic nomination. If he wins the nomination he pulls enough of the military and moderate vote to win the general election going away. Therefore, he has to announce just as soon as the dust settles.

I spoke with General Clark yesterday at the 21st Annual Martin Luther King jr. unity breakfast in Birmingham, Alabama. It was all I could do to keep from asking him if he was going to run but, I knew he would just say that he hasn�t said he wouldn�t.

I've waited on voicing my opinion on president Bush�s plan to send more troops into Iraq. I wanted to hear as much as I can about the presidents plan. While I have not heard as much as I can. I have heard as much as I can stand. This is a political solution to try and make George Bush look better. For this reason Bush is risking the lives of American service men and women.

First of all lets discuss Prime minister Maliki. He is prime minister and deputy leader of the Islamic Dawa party. The Dawa party has until now been considered a terrorist organization. Maliki is an Islamic extremist who has never supported the U.S. policy until he became prime minister. He supports Muqtada as-Sadr who continues to run Shi'a Death squads and kill Sunni's and American soldiers. Maliki to this day refuses to allow U.S. forces to make a move against as-Sadr. Most importantly every time he has made promises as to the cooperation of Iraqi forces he either hasn't or has been unable to do so.
Now president Bush is sending approximately 21,500 more soldiers in to Iraq believing that Maliki will come through with his promise of Iraqi troops. What the hell is Bush thinking. Why would he continue to take the word of Mailiki. This is the craziest thing I have ever heard of. Yet still bush is willing to bet the lives of our brave troops on the word of this liar in order to produce political fodder.

Once again I say that this man(Bush) should be impeached and once the full evidence his crimes is known. I believe they will warrant the filing of charges for war crimes by the United Nations. I hope that everyone who reads this will in someway to voice your disgust to the president for the way he abuse�s his office and that he should change this policy and this surge of troops.
I would like to congratulate someone else for getting it right. Joe Biden, who on �Meet the Press� today announced he was running for president, understands that the problem in Iraq is a political problem not a military problem. He acknowledged that in order to win in Iraq you had to solve the political problems between the Kurds, Sunni and Shia. That you had to openly work with neighboring Iraq, Syria, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. He gets it!

He would probably be my second choice for President. I would love to see a Clark/Biden ticket. Biden, a six term senator, would be an excellent hard nose guy to run the senate for Clark. He also has enough foreign relations experience to be sent on tough diplomatic missions.

Well after a day of watching the Democrats strut like a peacock, I am back where I was before the election. I know that they are going to get some valuable legislation passed. A raise in the minimum wage, the might get the pay as you go legislation through, but what about the tyrant. No I am not talking about Saddam Hussein. I am talking about George W. Bush.

In the news today it seems that he has issued another signing statement making it ok for him to open mail that could be a threat to the public good or for national security. Once again Bush has abused his office and our rights. In effect this allows him to open any mail that �he� decides could be a security risk.

So, now George Bush has given himself the power to torture any one he wishes listen to and record your phone calls, read your mail and e-mail. All of this he has allowed himself to do with out a warrant and without cause. Next I expect that he will issue an order allowing himself to come into your home and search it!

What are the Democrats doing? All I have heard all day is progress with out partisanship. The have said the won�t interfere with funding the war. That is the only thing they have said I agree with, because that would unnecessarily put our troops in harms way. They say they won�t bring impeachment proceedings. They don�t want it to seem like there on a witch hunt. So if they don�t use impeachment proceedings they have left themselves impotent to effectively challenge the tyrant in the White House. Why? Well they are more worried about loosing there jobs than doing there jobs.

George Bush should be impeached! For lying to the U.S. congress and the American public about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. For the death of 3000 brave young men & women, killed in a war that should have happened. For disbanding the Iraqi army without disarming them. For allowing more than half of those young men & women to die because he had absolutely no postwar plan for Iraq. For abusing his office�s authority and most of all, this one I think he should be charged with war crimes, for the torture of prisoners and holding them with out any type of process so they can prove there innocence.

This man has violated everything that this country stands for. He has shamed the American public and disgraced us in the eyes of the other countries of this world and forgoing to war without a post war plane he has weakened the U.S. military and it�s ability to defend this nation. If the Democrats allow this to happen without initiating impeachment proceedings, then we should impeach them November after next.
