Principles before personality.

It's a beautiful and special day here in Chicago. A historic day indeed. People are trying to get newspapers with the headlines and can't because everywhere is sold out. Walgreens is waiting for a delivery and you even have senior citizens waiting to share a piece of history. My twelve year son and I watched the results and I'm so glad he wanted to. One moment that was special to me was when Barack spoke about Dr. Martin Luther King speech and it took me back to King's vision. Imagine forty years ago King had the vision but felt he may not get there and here Barack Obama is at that point that King envisioned. This was so special. Congratulations to us all. Let us all come together to work for the good of the U.S.A.. It's time to move past our differences and move ahead.

"God Bless America".
McCain wants attention and bad. This is what's been happening of lately. He knows how much attention Barack Obama gets and anyway he can he will try and pull him into the limelight with him. He want to increase his popularity to help him in this election.
I have been hearing all the topic discussion about Sarah Palin and her daughter's pregnancy and the possibility that it could be Sarah's and this is what I feel. It very well could be her's and it could be a cover-up. But regardless of the situation, a person is entitled to their privavcy in regards to medical records, it's the law. Whatever is the truth is something that the Palin's will have to live with. Just the thought of what could be will always linger on some of the voters minds and no matter what the republicans try to dismiss will cause an uneasiness in some voters. Once a negative is in a person's mind it takes work to dispel the rumor, as we've seen in Obama's case. We need to take the focus off Palin, stop giving her top rate coverage and attention. The negatives will come to light and voters will be able to make their choice. If we don't, time will slip away from this election and the issues between Obama and McCain will not be discussed enough and what is their plan of action. Time is winding down and let's go at McCain where it can really hurt him, on the issues, his knowledge, his prior decision making, and his course of action. Let's go after McCain on every angle dealing with the issues that will put more doubt on his running for POTUS.
This issue about Sarah Palin's daughter pregnancy needs to be pointed to John McCain lacks good judgemnt which has been stressed all alone. It was stated he knew about her daughters pregnancy. Seems to be he would have tried to select the running mate who would be able to devote the kind of time needed for his campaign. There were quite a few in his pool of candidates. He tried to be quick and slick in his selection process and now he is getting some heat for the selection. We need a president who looks at the big picture and not demonstrating tunnel vision.
When the VP pick of Sarah Palin, McCain has shown once again that he lacks good judgement. As Barack Obama stated last night, "He just doesn't get it". His choice will definitely work against him.
Jerusalem - While meeting with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salim Fayyad on Wednesday, Barack Obama appealed to him on behalf of a surburban Chicago woman who is fighting to get her four daughters back after their father refused to let them leave the West Bank.

Obama handed Fayyad a note and some background information about the situation, "asking the prime minister to look into this issue."

Collen Davis Bargouthi, who lives in south suburban Midlothian, pressed Obama to visit her daughters, who live near Ramallah. The girls, ages 6 to 11, have been there since 2007, when her husband, Yasser Shibli Bargouthi, took his family to the West Bank to visit relatives.

Obama made a specific request of the Palestinian Authority in the note, according to a statement. "I would ask that the minister of justice look into this case, and our consul general will follow up."

News headline: "Cast of 300 advises Obama on foreign policy." If the cast of that movie is advising Obama on foreign policy, then Iran had better watch out.

Evidenced by his leak of Barack Obama foreign trip speaks to John McCains judgement to be commander-in-chief. This was very important information that should have been kept hush hush and he leaked it out. When the hostages were released a little while back he also came out on the same day they were release stating he knew of the plan but wasn't at liberty to talk about it. He lack the intellect to make the right decisions and the ability to keep security a high priority.

Washington- Former Vice President Al Gore called Thursday for a "man on the moon" effort to switch all of the nation's electricity production to wind, solar and other carbon-free sources within 10 years, a goal that he said would solve gl9obal warming as well as economic and natural security crises caused by the dependence on fossil fuels.

"The answer is to end our reliance on carbon-based fuels," Gore told a packed auditorium in Washington historic Constitution Hall. "When you connect the dots, it turns out that the real solutions to the climate crisis are the very same measures needed to renew our economy and escape the trap of everrising energy prices."   Read More »
to accompany Barack Obama to Iraq later on this year. Two men with foreign policy experience.

announced on CNN
I'm taking a survey and want to know what is at the very top of your list of issues this election for the presidential candidate. Mine is ending the war in Iraq.
After the release of the hostages I hear on tv a statement from the McCain campaign that John McCain said he was told about the plan to release the hostages but he couldn't say anything. Funny how he said his visit was about oil and his vist is planned around the same time these hostages are released. I am glad the hostages were released but I feel some shady dealings going on here.
I hope it helps.
At a time when the role of lobbyists and special interests are at issue in the presidential campaign, Senator John McCain left Tuesday on a trip to Columbia, where a senior advisor to him has long had business and political ties.

Since 1998, the lobbying firm headed until recently by Charlie Black, one of McCains closest confidants, has earned more than $1.8 million representing the Occidental Petroleum Corporation, the leading foreign producer of gas and oil in Columbia. The lobbying firm, BKASH & Associates, has also represented Columbian textile and apparel manufacturers and a foreign minister and presidential candidate who is also a prominent bussinesswoman.   Read More »
Monday when I was coming to work I was running low on gas and need to stop at the gas station. There is a citgo gas station that showed $4.25 9/10 for regular. Since there is another gas station a block away that is right next to the expressway I said I'd stop there then I could just hop on the expressway. The gas station with $4.25 is Citgo. When I get to the gas station by the expressway which is a BP I notice there gas is $4.37 9/10. This has always puzzled me how they can be so close and yet so different. Since I was pressed for time I went in put the gas in not liking paying 12 cents more a gallon for gas. Also Citgo always has more cars than BP does.

This morning I said I'm gonna stop at Citgo because it's 12 cents less a gallon. I got a newspaper and gave the attendant a $50.00 bill and told him to put $49.50 in the tank because the newspaper was 50 cents. When I go to pump the gas I notice it shows $4.39 9/10 for the regular grade. I start the pump to running and go back and question the attendant. He showed me the paper they have on the window that shows the gas is $4.25 9/10. He comes out with me and verifies that is what the pump shows. He checks another pump and it does show $4.25 9/10. He said maybe the numbers are wrong and it is pumping me at the lesser price. We went to print the receipt and sure enough I was charged $4.39 9/10.   Read More »

and she did a very good job. Barbara Walters brought up the question of the phrase, "For the first time in my adult life I am really proud of my country". She stated she has always been proud of her country but this time it really made her proud because of the primary elction. Whoopi Goldberg stated that when this was talked about they overlooked her word "really' in this statement which meant that she had been proud of her country before. There was no tensions between Elizabeth and her which Sean Hannity was already talking about yesterday. She is a very pleasant, intelligient, and good mother who will make a wonderful first lady. She also stated she sent Laura Bush a thank-you note for coming to her defense when the statemnet was made. The question was brought up about HRC as VP and she stated she felt that should be left up the the nominee. She did praise HRC for her accomplishment in the primary and what it means to her daughters.
I felt at first that HRC shouldn't be his VP then I changed my mind and that it would be a good idea. After these last few weeks and watching HRC speech last night I am back to feeling she shouldn't be. This is a decision that BO needs to make by himself with recommendations from his strategists. I understand and congratulate HRC on the amounts of votes she's garnered and the hope she's given for women but it wasn't all her doing. She took the right position at the right time. There are negatives about her campaigh that I will not go into because it will just bring up the negatives of BO. If HRC couldn't bring it together in her speech last night how could she bring it together as VP. An article by Michael Sneed in today's Chicago Sun-times reports that HRC campaign debt is at $50 million. As the end of April it was at $20 million and in one month it's risen an additional $30 million. This to me seems like trying to win by any means necessary. I would not want to wonder if I was POTUS what my VP may be trying to do behind my back. Let's give BO and HRC time to discuss what is the best solution.
Everytime there is a decision made that the camps supporters don't agree with there is bickering back and forth all day long. Even when there is no disappointing decision there is bickering back and forth all day long. Upsets and unexpected decisions happen. We deal with the consequences and move on. Whatever is down the road this party will deal with it. November can't come soon enough for me.
This holiday weekend we should be focusing on all those soldiers who have lost their lives in the war. We should be focusing on the war we are in now and how many lives have been lost, 4000 + and how many have been wounded with permanent disabilities and lives changed forever. We need to focus on how important it is not to let this current adminstration continue its policies and war. Can we please think about the soldiers, I know they are thinking about us.
