And then in his speech he asks us to be part of his vision for government, but I could never figure out what that vision is. Well if this election is about a Vietnam War hero and about the 1970's then McCain is your kind of guy.
But as for me I heard nothing about the economy, nothing about the middle class, nothing about the future and how to really make the changes to bring this country back from the flames of depression. Change, change John McCain? Are you kidding me? Change from you? It was to funny to stupid to be believed last night. So, don't be fooled it will be more of the same, Bush 3 not McCain 1 that would happen if by chance McCain wins in November. May it never be Democrats! Elect Obama/Biden for the sake of our country we so dearly love.
We're so sorry if we caused you any pain.
We're so sorry, sara palin,
But there's no one left at home
And i believe it's gonna rain.
We're so sorry but we haven't heard a thing all day,
We're so sorry, sara palin,
But if anything should happen
We'll be sure to give a ring.
"we're so sorry, sara palin,
But we haven't done a bloody thing all day.
We're so sorry, sara palin,
But the kettle's on the boil
And we're so eas'ly called away."
Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh,
Doo-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh,
Uh-uh -
The real reason I bring up Agnew is that the RNC will always in presidential elections use an ideologue right winger somewhere to keep their so called base happy with pablum. Nixon did this with Agnew in 1968 and so McCain is doing this with Palin in 2008.
I heard the GOP anger this morning on MSNBC as Joe Scarborough(R) and Mika Brzezinski(R) kept praising Palin as a new fresh voice, Joe saying I never heard anything like this before! as he was berating Senator Amy Klobuchar (D) from Minnesota. Senator Klobuchar correctly was making the point that what Palin said last night is the same divisive rhetoric we have been hearing from the Republican right wing for the last 8 years. What we really were hearing was a script that had been played out in the election of 1968 between Agnew against Democrats and the press.
Once again Americans are being played by the Republicans who cant run on the economy, who cant run on peace in the world, who cant run from a position of US strength in the world, who basically have nothing to run on because the record is clear, Republicans have failed American families once again. We see a lot of fluff in St. Paul with failed politicians that try to label true Americans like Obama and Biden as your enemy.
Democrats we live in a very serious time, we cannot afford, allow or be confident in a future for America with Republicans again, please do not fall once again for the GOP lying and hate machine.
Elect Barack Obama President of the United States and Joe Biden Vice President of the United States, truly the future of our great country cannot take four more years of Bush Cheney policies masked under the package of McCain and Palin.
Thank you
He is NO Democrat. He is a revengeful spiteful man who allows himself just like Zel Miller to be used by the Right Wing extremist RNC. Oh by the way where is Zel?
As I remember the Republicans threw him away like a dirty rag after they bled him for all they could get. And so it will happen to Joe. Poor Joe, wanting so badly to trust the right wing and believing they will embrace unity and change.
Joe will you never learn? Joe unfortunately you too will be cast aside once the GOP decides you served your purpose for them and they have no further use for you just like Zel.
And just an observation on the Right Wing Convention, it's the economy stupid, but as Americans know the GOP can't really talk about domestic issues, just guns war and bombs.
Obama has either dismissed or found irrelevant the middle class, single women over 40 all baby boomers and the elderly. Which leaves him a loser in November. For the sake of the party and winning the white house he should withdraw.
FYI: If I were in a church for 20 years, I would not have played the ignorant card Obama has played. See no evil speak no evil hear no evil? Ya right...no one believes this guy.
Ah sorry Obama it takes 2,025 to win the nomination and you won't have that number going into the convention. So Obama pundits and sages can trash talk and whine all they want...boo hoo boo hoo. Senator Clinton is going all the way to the convention. Sorry NBC boys, Sister Hillary is not taking any baloney BS from you any time soon, and either am I.
just quite yet thank you.
I heard Senator Obama last night on MSNBC on a so-called MSNBC college tour program, and for me it was nothing new. I have heard Obama speak on these issues many times. But Matthews and his pundits were all over Obama kiss kiss here and a kiss kiss there..ohh my God it was so sickening I almost puked up my dinner!
No Chris Barach Obama is not the second coming of Jesus Christ, sorry to be the first today to inform you of this.
The talk around the water cooler these days is how organized the republicans were and when they had a primary election every vote counted and the one candidate with the majority of votes won the election and the delegates. Gee what a concept, Democracy in action, one-person one vote, and the winner with the most votes gets the delegates.
To say once again the Democrats are handing the republicans another presidential election on a silver platter is an understatement. The Republicans have not run as weak a candidate for president since Bob Dole but Democrats seem to be hell bent to blow 3 presidential elections in a row.
And what is this caucus stuff anyway? Is America getting away from Democratic elections where all voters have a chance to vote for their chosen candidate? How amateurish and foolish Democrats look when they give all their delegates to a candidate who won a state caucus with on 125 votes where millions reside, highly elitist in view of many I have talked too.
Another huge blow for Democrats that paints the DNC as stupid and elitist is what happened in the Michigan and Florida primaries, where MILLIONS of VOTES were cast by Americans and the DNC the idiots blew off and pissed off millions of people who are giving the middle finger to
Howard Dean these days and rightly so.
The Democrats will not win the general election in the fall unfortunately because of their stupidity and in fighting. They will lose to a before hand weak and old Republican candidate who cannot thank Democrats enough for their obvious lack of seeing what the prize is...it's the presidency stupid. He or she who holds that office has the power and everybody else really has jack.
Barbara Davidson / Los Angeles Times GROWING SUPPORT: Senator and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and former President Bill Clinton attend a fall kick-off campaign rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.Democratic voters are looking favorably on her experience as first lady, even on her failed healthcare effort, a poll finds.By Peter Wallsten and Janet Hook, Los Angeles Times Staff Writers October 24, 2007 WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has neutralized the political fallout from some of the most difficult moments of her eight years as first lady, with Democratic voters looking favorably on her failed effort to revamp healthcare and either supporting or having no opinion of her decision to remain loyal to an unfaithful husband, a new Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll shows.
The positive impression of Clinton's White House years -- which is shared, though more faintly, among the broader public -- is helping propel her to a formidable lead over her rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination. Yesterday in New Hampshire, Hillary Clinton announced an agenda to help parents balance work and family and ensure that Americans aren’t faced with a choice between keeping their job and caring for a newborn baby.
“Too many Americans feel trapped between being a good parent and being a good worker,” Clinton said. “It’s about time we stopped just talking about family values and started pursuing policies that truly value families. All Americans who are working hard and taking responsibility deserve the chance to do right by their children.
“With sound policies and sensible investments, we can give parents more choices to make the decisions that are best for them. We can make life a little easier for everyone – for mothers and for fathers – to do the most important job there is in any society: raising and nurturing the next generation. And that’s the right decision for all of us.”
Hillary’s plan would set an ambitious goal for all states to implement a paid family leave program by the year 2016, and offer $1 billion per year in grants to encourage innovative paid family leave programs at the state level. Hillary would also extend the Family Medical Leave Act to cover 13 million additional workers across the country, and guarantee every American worker seven days of paid sick leave to help them deal with a health crisis faced by themselves or their children.
Access to quality, affordable child care is critical for parents seeking to fulfill their work and family obligations. With 300,000 children set to lose access to child care by 2010, Hillary’s plan would increase child care funding through the Child Care and Development Block Grant and foster public-private partnerships to expand child care options at the state level.
This bold new effort will give families the support they need to more effectively balance work and family obligations. And it will work in partnership with America’s businesses to ensure that pro-family work policies and increasing workplace flexibility helps improve American competitiveness and economic growth.
“Providing paid family leave and flexibility for the employees at Discovery created value for its shareholders and made the employees more loyal to the company. I believe work-life balance initiatives are as much about doing good as doing well, and these initiatives will help America's parents and help grow the bottom line,” said Judith McHale, former president and CEO, Discovery Communications, Inc.
Hillary’s work-family agenda will: Expand paid leave across the country through a new State Family Leave Innovation Fund; Extend the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to cover 13 million additional American workers and guarantee workers at least 7 paid sick days per year; Promote model workplaces with grants to support new workplace flexibility programs and a federal telecommuting initiative; Ensure better access to affordable, high quality child care; and Prevent parents from being discriminated against because of pregnancy or their caregiving responsibilities.

“Today, I reaffirm my support and stand in solidarity with the men and women of the UAW who have been forced to strike in defense of their jobs. The decision to strike is never an easy one and negotiations involve the fundamental issues of health security for workers and retirees, fair wages, retirement protection and job security.
“As President, I will continue my efforts to rebuild our manufacturing industry, to provide good jobs with health and retirement security, and to honor the hard work of unions like the UAW.
“We have a shared interest in a healthy and successful US auto industry, and I hope the current dispute can be resolved quickly and equitably for the benefit of the workers and Chrysler.”
