Dear Friends,

I am excited about this campaign for this Senate seat and the other campaigns that are taking place across the state of New Mexico. There is much work to be done and I need your help to make this an effective Senate Seat for the people of Colfax, Northern Curry, Harding, Quay, Western San Miguel, Northern Taos and Union counties and also the rest of New Mexico. Yes, this is the largest state Senate district in area in New Mexico. Clint Hardin narrowly won his seat by approximately 30 votes last time and that was on the coat tales of President Bushâs reelection.   Read More »
In America we have a tradition that if something isnât happening as we would like it, the solution is that we or someone is just not working hard enough. The good old Puritan work ethic, idle hands are the Devilâs workshop, etc, etc. I am as guilty as anyone of living this dream even if deep inside something doesnât seem quite right, like my blood pressure, cholesterol etc. etc. About twenty years (tears) ago when I was a Stock Broker I was told âdonât work hard, work smartâ. When you are working on commission no one cares if you take a 2 hour lunch, a 4 day weekend or an extended vacation as long as youâre raking in the cash. However, if you are not raking in that cash you are fired. Now, I am thinking, I could learn something from religion, philosophy, our ancient ancestors and native tradition. That something is balance.   Read More »
I need volunteers to help get my petition signed for the Democratic primary. I am asking every signer for a 5 & 5 pledge. Contribute $5 and get 5 people to vote for me.
Our President is out of control! By claiming executive privilege again and blocking valuable information he is obstructing justice in the tradition of the Nixon Administration. As an historian I can plainly say without equivocation that under this administration there has been more obstruction of justice, Constitutional violations, more debt, deplorable military strategy etc. etc. than in any other administration in our history. George Bush makes the worst President we ever had look like a winner.   Read More »
The Current state of the US Congress appears to be a state of retreat. Granted, I do not have the inside tract. However, with a 27% approval rating I believe it
is high time we started fighting fire with fire. The President of the United States in his arrogance is telling Congress to "bring it on" like he did our enemy. I say it is time to take him on by every legal means possible. It is what the American people desire.   Read More »
I visited Tucumcari and Clovis New Mexico recently with Brian Colon. It was a great trip and it was good to meet with the great people in those communities. It felt right at home.

I feel confident that this will be a successful campaign.

If you know anyone in New Mexico Senate District 7 who would like to donate, volunteer or vote for me please let them know about me. The counties are, Colfax, Union, Quay, Harding, northern Curry and Taos, and western San Miguel.

Education is the sustenance of life and freedom. It is the very means by which our ancestors and we survive from day to day; and beyond survival to seek out and achieve our dreams and aspirations.

Education is the dissemination of knowledge and the leading of others to find the truth and understanding. It is the means by which we as a people progress and strive to improve our lives and change our way of life if need be.   Read More »
A Petition Calling for the Dismantling
of the No Child Left Behind Act

UPDATES: (1) You may not agree with every point on this document, written trying to take into consideration as many complaints as possible. If you agree with one, you should sign, and then spread the word. (2) Conservatives and Liberals wrote this legislation; we need both to help us end it. (3) We are NOT associated with the NEA, whose leadership has misrepresented our organization and our movement. We encourage NEA members to join us in ending this version of the ESEA. In place of NCLB we offer federally supported, EDUCATOR-led reform, something NEA leadership should support. (4) Teachers have written us asking if they can be fired for signing. This is, the last time we checked, still the U.S.A., and teachers are entitled to voice their opinionsjust do it from your home! If you are a teacher, please identify yourself as such when you sign. (5) If you are looking to do more than sign a petition, and undoing NCLB will require more than a petition, register with us and work with us to return the joy to teaching and learning. When you sign the petition, IF YOU SWITCH THE BUTTON TO "PUBLIC" WE WILL ADD YOU TO OUR MAILING LIST. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE ON OUR LIST, DON'T MAKE YOUR ADDRESS "PUBLIC." Thank you!

Dear Friend,

Congress has the power to end this war. They authorized the invasion of Iraq under the War Powers Act and they can now de-authorize it and bring the troops home.

De-authorization canât be vetoed. And itâs not up for negotiation with a President who believes mere stubbornness is a foreign policy and that he can just ignore the will of the American people. The time has come to stand up to George Bush once and for all. Letâs not wait or waver while more people die.   Read More »
It is becoming seemingly impossible for me to to teach both sides in my High School US History class when it comes to George W. I demand that everyone be given free speech, which is free from satire. All student's opinions are given respect and dignity. I have offered extra credit to any student who can find something worthwhile this president has done. Not even the most avid supporters can bring me anything. What is astounding is that 28% of the people out there still approve this guy.   Read More »
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old Texas rancher whose hand had been caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to former Texas Governor George W. Bush and his elevation to the White House.   Read More »
In regards to our brave, honorable and patriotic New Mexico National Guard soldiers, who were treated like common criminals I want to say that I am appalled and angry at the treatment they received. As a former guardsman, US History teacher and citizen I cannot let this stand without speaking out. The Art of War teach us to know our enemy, but also our own. Ignorance of culture and racism are a weakness that is intolerable and inexcusable at any time especially in time of war. Just in case that isnt enough it is also just plainly, wrong.

Americans of Hispanic culture have profoundly played a major role in United States military operations going back to 1836 when Sam Houston defeated Santa Ana with the aide of such men. During the Civil War these men kept a Confederate army from invading New Mexico. They rode with Teddy Roosevelt in the Spanish American War. They were in Europe with General Pershingâs American Expeditionary Force in World War I. They, those brave men, fought for the Philippines with General Macarthur and suffered the Bataan Death March. In Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and now, in the War on Terror. Get on your knees and thank God these men are Americans because I would sure hate to be there enemy.   Read More »
