Dear Friend,
Lots of people are saying we have to wait until this fall to end the war in Iraq. The same people are saying we can't remove all the troops.
Well, I don't think so -- Congress has about a month before they break for the summer. They could do something before then if we push them.
If they end the war now, we could have all the troops home in 6 months.
Bill Richardson has called on Congress to bring the troops home now -- not to wait until the fall. If Congress de-authorizes, Bush is stripped of his authority to continue the war -- he would be legally required to start bringing the troops home.
And Bill Richardson is the only major Democratic candidate calling for us to remove ALL the troops from Iraq. He's right -- leaving residual forces just keeps American soldiers in the middle of a civil war they can't win with targets on their backs.
