Seth Speaks
About the Author
George Bush speaks. Dick Cheney speaks. Donald Rumsfeld speaks. Joe Lieberman speaks. I'm no one famous, but I have a voice; I deserve to be heard, too. So do you. Here is a place where alternative voices can be heard.

If you can't trust Denny Hastert to protect a 16 year old congressional page, how can you trust him to protect a nation?   Read More »
Of course, I am talking about the Foley incident, and Reps. Hastert, Reynolds, and all the other Republicans in The House who knew about Foley's behavior prior to its public exposure last Friday an ABC News.

The Republican Party has held themselves up as the keeper of Public Morals, underscoring that position starting with the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

But now that the show is on the Republican foot, we find out how moral and truthful they are.

It's time to stand up to be heard.

It's time to write and call your Congress people and let them know that we need a Bipartisan public hearing to reveal the truth. And, despite the words of King George to the contrary, we should not allow Dennis Hastert lead the investigation.

Are we going to leave the henhouse guarded by the fox?
"What else is new?"

But I want to point out that what many of us have been suspecting for 5 years is being confirmed each day.

Now, Bob Woodward is revealing that Iraq burns while George fiddles around with the truth. And the Congress sits around arguing about who is right and who is wrong instead of trying to find out what is the truth about Iraq.   Read More »
This afternoon, I saw someone standing out at Corbins Corner in West Hartford, dressed in a long, dark brown robe with a turban and a long beard holding a sign that said, "Support Lamont. We do."   Read More »
Here's an interesting item. I found this excerpt on the White House web site (so it must be factual). Compare this to what George Bush said at 9:00 on September 11, 2006:
President Bush Holds Press Conference
Press Conference by the President
The James S. Brady Briefing Room

March 13, 2002 - 4:00 P.M. EST

Q Mr. President, in your speeches now you rarely talk or mention Osama bin Laden. Why is that? Also, can you tell the American people if you have any more information, if you know if he is dead or alive? Final part -- deep in your heart, don't you truly believe that until you find out if he is dead or alive, you won't really eliminate the threat of --

THE PRESIDENT: Deep in my heart I know the man is on the run, if he's alive at all. Who knows if he's hiding in some cave or not; we haven't heard from him in a long time. And the idea of focusing on one person is -- really indicates to me people don't understand the scope of the mission.

Terror is bigger than one person. And he's just -- he's a person who's now been marginalized. His network, his host government has been destroyed. He's the ultimate parasite who found weakness, exploited it, and met his match. He is -- as I mentioned in my speech, I do mention the fact that this is a fellow who is willing to commit youngsters to their death and he, himself, tries to hide -- if, in fact, he's hiding at all.

It was predictable. Five years later, we're still not safe - and we should be afraid because it can happen again. That's what George Bush wants us to believe.

Today a group of Syrians made an attempt to attack a symbol of the United States - the U.S. Embassy in Damascus, and Bush's people called it a "terrorist attack."

We were told that 14 people have been transferred to Gitmo from secret CIA "prisons" abroad so that "they can be held to account for their actions."   Read More »
Since today is a day to remember, I will save my response to George Bush's speech until tomorrow.

May this day find your grief reduced. We all mourn the waste of thousands of lives. We will always remember.
Tomorrow is a Day of Remembrance. Just as November 22, 1963 is an important day to remember - the day that Jack Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas - September 11, 2001 will be a day that, for years, will be indelibly etched in that minds of almost all who were alive on that day.

I can remember exactly where I was at the moment that I heard that The President was dead. That moment is burnt onto the surface of my brain.

The question becomes what kind of memorialization will be conducted on future September 11ths.   Read More »
America is safer today than it was five years ago, according to a declaration by King George. This statement is being made by the same man who told us that Saddam Hussein possessed massive stocks of weapons of mass destruction that he intended to make available to al Qaeda. This statement was made by the man who told us that Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden were allies in the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Today, in the days before the fifth anniversary of 9/11, the CIA tells us that there was no alliance between Iraq and al Qaeda. This makes sense if one is familiar with Mideast religious politics. But if the American people were familiar with the Sunni-Shia split and, more importantly, if George Bush believed that the American people, and the Congress, had been knowledgeable he would not have been able to use fear to sell us the bill of goods that resulted in the ill-fated war in Iraq.   Read More »
King George is telling America that we have to "stay the course," that we shouldn't "cut and run," or else we will lose.

My question: what do we win? What does winning in Iraq mean? How much does it cost to "stay the course." What is the cost of winning and what do we gain? And if we withdraw from Iraq, what do we lose?

Our problem in America, right now, is that George Bush and his political cronies will not even discuss alternatives to "stay the course."   Read More »
Joe Lieberman is running with the idea that he is the better candidate for the U.S. Senate because he is a bipartisan. That would be all well and good if the Senate and the House of Representatives and the Executive weren't under the control of Republicans.

History shows us that Joe Lieberman is right when he says that bipartisanism is a way towards great progress in this country - but only when the White House is controlled by one party, and the House of Representatives or Senate are each controlled by a different party, and there is a very small margin held by either party in the other legislative house. At these times in American history great things have been done because there is a wonderful opportunity for give and take.

Joe is not right today, and he is wrong to break party lines - to forget that you leave the dance with the one that brung you.   Read More »
